So, I was just messing around. Turns out I sold my first guy so quick that it didn't register or was done before the "one sale only during the first 11 days" was put into effect. I tossed up a second guy just to test things and he's now on the market. Makes me wish I tossed up 4 or 5 guys in the first 2min of having my team...

From the news:
"For the first 11 days, everyone will be allowed to place a maximum of 1 player and 1 staff member on the market at the same time."

(i.e. you can have 1 player and 1 staff member on the market at any given time)

Ohhhh! I thought it was 1 for the whole time period. DOH!

In other news, I forgot about your player. Handball went down and when I came back the deadline passed.

I've snagged a couple of 130+ guys for 10k- my plan with them- and most of my team is to run them into the ground energy wise (H & VH) and then probably just cut them once the teams start getting a little better with pulls and such

Smart plan! And 130 OR guys are about the global average

Have a coach with 52 minutes left- 1.4 million :)

Oh joy

Haha isn't it awesome! If only I was blessed with 2 off the bat like some people...

You are blessed with 2 top goalies right off the bat, could turn out to be more benefitial in the long term :) not to mention you got very lucky with the sales :)

Yes I did. But I'm going to need all the help I can get given how unlucky I was with my non-GK players!

I've added these guys to my scouting queue. If you wouldn't mind sharing (either here or via PM) the CL history for Fitzpatrick and Bulger, it would be appreciated.

It looks like you'll be bringing in a sizable chunk of change. Whats your plan for the expected proceeds?

I think I know why I'm often disappointed with my sales:

I was watching one of my guys sell today, and as I always do (thank you OCD), the deadline was for _ _ : _ 0. The problem is, lots of people set the deadline for things like that and my guy was on the home page for all of a few seconds. If instead I set his deadline for _ _ : _ 9, he would have been up for several minutes.

Now I know. (Dang, Chicago just scored.)

I'll send you a PM when I get a chance.

As for what I might do with some cash...
It'll definitely go into my first 11 - There are some players who do a job, but not to the standard I need to compete in every competition.

As a rule with my teams, I challenge for the League title first and foremost - that is my bread and butter so to speak.

NC's are a nice little OTR earner/trophy - but the International competitions I never really try hard to win games, I see them as an energy sink to be honest!

Until I can compete with these teams I will tend to take it easier in the International cups. Although right now, I'm having probably my best CL group stage outing to date in hockey.

Added a bunch to scout, cash savings in progress.

Not sure if this was common knowledge or not, but it appears the energy usage has been altered for handball, I guess to accommodate the longer season. I played my first game N, and my 2nd H... all my guys are at 99 energy

In the guide it is still similar to hockey/soccer. But it is based on 60 minutes of playing time.

In hockey, my team is not in a position to make an international cup. Thus, I'm almost always focusing on the league (but usually go all in on a NC game if I make the final 16).

In soccer, I've historically went for the league above all else. Last season I won the league and the 2nd place team received better sponsorship deals than me due to having ~20 more OTR. This season I've tried to do better in the NC and ChL with the hope of catching him in OTR.

My team's energy has really taken a hit and my forward depth was slightly exposed yesterday in my ChL match with my top 2 (in terms of current IGR) forwards suspended (one of the 2 forwards who played is now at 29 chemistry). I suffered a 0-2 defeat on the road in Leg 1 and hopefully can put together a solid match next Wednesday to at least pick up some OTR and hopefully advance. A win yesterday could have moved me into the top 10 in OTR.

I may even add some firepower to the lineup before my next ChL match to try to get a little extra advantage. I'll keep your guys in mind as well as I'm spending money. I should probably be selling some of my own players and will probably do so at around the same time that you do (i.e. after prize money). I'm currently paying over 2.2M a day in player salaries/fees. :(

Same thing happened to me. Loser Patrol finished 4th to my 3rd. I had better marketing managers and HR level. He had 15 more OTR than I and had about 5-10% more sponsor money than I. 5-10% may not seem like much but when we're in the 250-300M/season range that's a solid 12.5-30M more over a season in just the GS alone!

Yep - the depth issue in my team has not really been exposed in the domestic games, yet.
So hopefully I raise enough dough to bring in some fresh faces to the starting 11, and the issue of squad depth becomes... less of an issue naturally.

And just, WOW!!!! 2.2 million per day in fees??
I thought I was suffering with half that.

It really is a mone sink that we can do without, for example, I sold off around 10 players yesterday in hockey, and have already made a saving of .5 million today.
Over the course of a season that's 112 million.

Going forward, in all sports, I'm going to try and keep the squad to the bare minimum, although I'm a complete saddo for a bargain or 2! :)

The 2.2M per day figure was salaries plus fees. The salaries are about 1.3M and the fee is about 0.9M. I keep buying players though. I do expect to make some nice coin when I sell players at the end of the season.

A quick update on my CL campaign this season...

As I posted earlier, I'm never too keen to lose energy in these comps, generally because my team is far inferior to everyone else in the group.

This season I have been faring much better, results-wise, and picked up an impressive scalp on the road >> HERE.

That result puts me in a decent spot to challenge for the knockout stages, but again, I'm very reluctant to waste energy on a comp I can't possibly win.

Some nice OTR in the bag though :yo:
