ok, we can let this die a natural death, there does not appear to be an intersection of each what team wants/will cough up

but thanks for sharing

You created this thread and already started suggesting Power had lower value in the OP.

Your intention, like usual, was to offer spare parts and have the Rangers end up with the better player in the trade.

Yea, let this die.

The best outcome for Buffalo fans, would be your suggestion to let it die. I feel bad for Sabers fans, but if your management team lets a 6 ft 6 220 lb , 22 year old # 1 pick defenseman, already signed to a long term contract, get moved to another team, and you continue to support that organization, than you deserve the long suffering you will endure.

It doesnt take rocket science to understand that before you created the thread
NO, WRONG
b'c it was theoretically possible that MAYBE something around KAM + could work.

But after listening with an open mind, it seems the + is too much

I did not suggest that was his actual value.
To the contrary I said I observed that and was skeptical a lower value is the case.

Further, I DELIBERATELY made this a value of thread so peeps would not jump to the wrong conclusion as you have just done.

I don't mind criticism when fair, but pls remember your obligation to be accurate

I know his trade protection doesn’t kick in until next year but fox forced himself out of two franchises already as he only wanted to go to the rangers and we’re thinking he’d go happily to Buffalo?

Interesting

Buffalo would willingly downgrade to KAM? Btw they dont need more LD

That's before you factor in age differencr.KAM is 3 yrs younger

I said KAM+
setting aside how much that + should be, an effort is nec to see if there is correct currency to accommodate

it's Bern....literally no one including him knows what this is all for....
you might not have a clue
but bern knows

he knows
and by extension, I know

I feel like the Rangers defense is trash enough already. Last thing they need is another defender that can’t actually defend.

If Rangers really want to blow it up something built around Power and Fox makes a ton of sense for both teams. Outside Fox I see nothing that Buffalo should part with Power for. Fox though would be a big step in turning the ship around.

What he commands is dependent on the context of the Sabres, a team with no glaring need (ie they have decent to great players at all positions) but consistently underperforming.

I don’t see Buffalo entertaining picks + prospects trades. I’d think trade would have to improve their roster right now without making them too old. So Trochek, Zib, Berard, Othmann etc won’t suffice.

I could see them having interest in Laf or Cuylle, both of which are nonstarters for NYR.

These two just aren’t good trading partners.
Power for Trochek + Braden Schneider + a 2025 1st rounder (top 10 protected)?

Which team says no?

This is the kind of deal Buffalo need to make, imo, maybe even with a lower pick than a first.
They need a veteran 2C who can push Cozens to his rightful place on the wing and a defensive RHD to support Byram on the 2nd pairing.
Buffalo might lose this trade on paper, just like many prospect-lovers thought they did with the McLeod-Savoie deal, but it will make their team a lot more balanced.
Ottawa did the same thing in the summer when they swapped Chychrun for Jensen and a mid pick. Lost the trade on paper, but made their D much more balanced, and better.

The problem is that we will now be without a player on the first pair of defense, Because Byram plays 1RD for us. Also, I don't see Trocheck going to Buffalo given his NMC. I'm not completely sold on Schneider yet, as I've said before in this thread players like Laf or Cuylle should probably be in the deal, in addition to Schneider.

NY doesn't have the right pieces. Maybe something around Lafreniere, but I suspect both sides object. I'm sure Schneider is also interesting, but would require massive additions to be worth Power.

Overpay for a young LHD that hasn't figured it all out yet. That's a #1 C, a top-4 RD, and a presumed lottery pick, Drury says no easily. Rangers can't gut the forward core for one player unless that one player is already established and has real name value. Remember that Panarin/Zibanejad/Kreider are all being phased out, without Troch and that lottery pick they'll have gotten so much worse.

Byram is the guy for NYR I think and it's not an asset that will break the bank to get.

Trochek is a great player but too old for them. Sabres aren’t yet ready and his usefulness will diminish by the time they are.

Cuylle + Schneider + 2025 first. would get the Sabres attention, I’d imagine.

Buffalo likely would want one of Lafrenière, Cuylie or Fox.
Fox isn't realistic... nor is LaF.

Braden Schneider is the guy they need most. He's a big R shot defender that brings better balance to Buffalo's D core. Also younger than Byram. Same age as Power.

Trochek is a good player and the NYRs sitting on the 11th overall pick in the 2025 draft today. I didn't make some weak proposal. I made the Rangers put good assets on the table for Power.

And Power isn't having a banner season.

Trochek has 4 more years left, after this one, don’t see that as a fit for Buffalo.
Scneider is a year older fyi.

Trochek has been one of the Rangers best and most consistent players this season. He's not regressing yet.

Got ya on the age. None the less... both are very young and early in their careers.

Buffalo has too many LHD, even if some play offhand.

I suspect Buffalo's brass are really frustrated that Mattias Samuelsson (RHD) has been one of their worst players this season. He'd been more effective in prior years.
