Again, am putting together a blueprint
Already have some deals set
when I post that next wk-ish we will see
so prob better for now just to speak in generics,
we want this, we want that as opposed to specific players

this is a value of thread to try and see if there is a match on what sabes want for him
and do Rs have currency that is a fit
Not sure but I am asking what are current BUF needs

Power is not a negative asset
but what he commands remains to be seen and hoping to identify that here

also,
Merry Christmas

What he commands is dependent on the context of the Sabres, a team with no glaring need (ie they have decent to great players at all positions) but consistently underperforming.

I don’t see Buffalo entertaining picks + prospects trades. I’d think trade would have to improve their roster right now without making them too old. So Trochek, Zib, Berard, Othmann etc won’t suffice.

I could see them having interest in Laf or Cuylle, both of which are nonstarters for NYR.

These two just aren’t good trading partners.

I'd guess trochek, lafreniere and Braeden schneider would be the pieces that interest buffalo.

I don't see a deal to be made here personally.

Maybe byram and K. miller if a change of scenery type deal for two quality but somewhat struggling LHD is needed? Idk

Thanks for pointing out Power is not a negative asset. Is that to imply he has a very low value? Why even write that?

You are looking at Lafreniere and probably a 1st for Power

Byram is struggling?

How is Byram struggling? He’s pacing for 42 points so far this season.

Is the bolded supposed to imply that his value is on the low side? Please explain the meaning behind that comment.

In general terms have seen some posts on some threads suggesting to affect a shakeup Power might be had. Howev, some of those implied Power might be more than nominally discounted.

W/Dahlin and some other good top 4, I can see him being moved.
But he's a 1OA not THAT long ago, any discount is not gonna be THAT much

That said,
I was looking to get info here not propose anything until later
Hence the 'value of'

Value of laf, but, not as it’s just about value not a proposal.

Would definitely give up Schneider++

I don’t know what your other needs are.

I’d offer a first round pick to start off the +. I’m guessing wingers and skill players probably aren’t a need. I’d offer up Drew Fortescue, our best LHD prospect, if you guys want some sort of LHD with NHL upside coming back

Schneider, 2025 1st, Fortescue for Power? Would definitely want to lottery protect the 1st though, and it can become 2026 if we miss the playoffs this year.

Power for fox.
It actually sounds interesting, but I thought Fox only wanted to play for Rangers.

Futures are not very interesting, And Schneider doesn't seem to have developed into a good top 4D yet, has he struggled or is it a coaching/bad season/partner issue?

No, Schneider is our second best defenseman by a mile right now (Fox has sucked this year, but there's obviously a huge gap from a Norris winner in his prime to everyone on a terrible defensive core and then Schneider has been a gap to everyone else). He's really shown this year to be a quality 4D.

The reason I'd be a little bit okay trading him is that two of our three best prospects are RHD (Mancini and Emery). I figure at least one of them becomes a 4, and you never know if maybe one is a second pair defenseman and another a third pair, and that's the right side filled out. Fox can also play like 30 minutes a game if RHD ever becomes a big weakness, so RHD is a position of strength. I wouldn't want to trade Schneider. He's definitely one of the few we don't want to trade, but if Power is potentially coming back I'd absolutely consider it.

If futures aren't an interest, would you want like Ryan Lindgren as opposed to Fortescue? He's a pending UFA. Hasn't been good last season and then to start this season, but he's only 26 and has been a quality top 4 before that. You never know if maybe he fits with your team. I don't think he's as finished as Rangers fans think (he's 26), but If not, can always flip him at the deadline for picks. The Rangers need to get rid of him because things aren't going his way lately, he's been part of the problem, and a pending UFA. Makes him an easy target to trade.

Schneider, Lindgren, and a 1st for Power?

First of all I doubt Lindgren has much value right now, secondly LD is the last position we need. Even if we trade Power, we still have Dahlin, Byram, Samuelsson and Johnson. I'm trying to find some kind of deal with adding a forward from your team, also probably we could also add some forward to the deal. But I don't know who in theory could be available from your forwards for trade and who is categorically not traded.

There's literally nothing in the realm of realistic with the Rangers that would entice me. I legit have no interest in any SINGLE player besides Fox you could offer. You wanna bundle the 3 other players you dont wanna lose and ask again then sure. (and no trocheck isnt one. And lemme get ahead and say Rempelbow isn't it either).

If you want forwards that can contribute now, I’m guessing you would be interested in Lafreniere or Cuylle. They aren’t off limits, but I don’t know if trading one of them and Schneider is really getting the team closer to where they need to be.

Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider, Trocheck, Chytil are all theoretically in the mix to be traded from the forwards, but I don’t know how much interest there would be from the Sabres.

Yes, you think correctly, plus your vets have NMC/NTC and I'm sure Buffalo will be on each of their lists of places they don't want to go. Laf and Cuylle are probably the two most interesting young forwards for us on your roster, but it seems to you that there is no big point in trading them either. It's not easy to find the right deal that will suit both teams.
