Not the most exciting pickups but Habs have a couple with a high likelihood of being claimed.

Pezzeta and Harvey-Pinard.

RHP produces well for a bottom 6er but just couldn't be consistent enough. Pezzeta is a ginder who provides a ton of energy where he lacks skill, Habs purposefully avoided putting him on waivers last year because they knew he'd get claimed.

Not sure what kind of value a Right Handed Pitcher is gonna have to an NHL team....

Didn’t see a thread but just wondering what players your teams might be forced to waive who could be of interest or get a claim?

In Vancouver I think Nils Aman could get waived. He’s big and cheap but has been getting outplayed in camp.

Less likely but maybe Noah Juulsen?

Would love for the Canucks to scoop up a bigger winger with some grit.

Post your teams potential waiver players below.
There was one on waiver claims

You have 4 distinct groups

Career SHLers who arr tweeted for 4th line
2. Cap dumps
3. First year of waiver exposure after ELC/waiver exempt expired. Therr gas bern a long unwritten rule of not claiming these players

Habs won't put Pezzetta on waivers. For all the habs fans who whine about him, he's a middleweight who's top 10 or so in the league for hits. They'll keep him, trade him or resign him for cheap imo - hughes hates losing guys for nothing

Devils are probably going to end up waiving Nolan Foote and then at some point DeSimone and Hatakka.

I could see a team intrigued by Foote’s size and skill, but probably makes it through. DeSimone seems like he’s going to be a forever waiver claim as a good but not great depth guy. Hatakka would be the most likely to get claimed and potentially blossom elsewhere with his age and skill set.

I also wonder if they may try to stash MacDermid in the AHL for a bit and hope that no one bites on his three year deal at his AAV.

Maybe guys from the hawks who hit waivers
Ryan Donato, Joey Anderson, Isaak Phillips and Arvid Soderblom.

I do think Donato might be potential trade bait though. Depends on their plan for Nazar.
I thought Phillips still had one more year

Technically, I think teams can put players through waivers today if they want to. However, teams has to make sure to have a 23 players roster at some point before the start of the season (I don't know the actual date). It would be near that deadline that a ton of players will go through waivers.
Thanks!

They'll do the same with Pezetta this year as they have no issue sitting him in the press box for like 8 games at a time, I kinda think they could get a late pick for Pezetta for some team wanting an energy player, but he's the perfect guy for the 13th forward role. RHP is still on LTIR for a couple more months, no? There's a good chance there will be injuries by that point and he will have a depth role

For the Oilers, maybe Raphael Lavoie, but I don't think he has shown enough to be claimed when there are others around the same caliber who will hit the wire. I wouldn't be shocked if we waive Josh Brown, but at 1M and 3 years, and not the best track record at the NHL level, I don't expect he would be claimed either.

Oilers are going to cut a player they just signed 3 months ago to a multi year contract?

Who is in charge of their professional scouting department for Dmen? Guess they didnt learn from the Nurse fiasco.

Bouchard chompin at the bit given how Oilers just throw Millions of dollars away to Dmen.

Conor Timmins, Alex Steeves and Matt Murray for the Leafs.

Any of these three players, and/or Nik Robertson, might also get traded instead of waived if they don't fit on the Leafs' roster.

I don't see any others with a real chance of cracking an NHL roster here.
There are two Matt Murrays. Are you talking about the goalie who has been injured the last 3 seasons?

I suspect that they signed Brown to be a guy they can send to the AHL and mentor the young guys, or call up and use on the main roster in a pinch. Losing Broberg to St. Louis might mean that they keep him up as depth, but I fully expect that they gave him $1M so it is less likely he is claimed when put on waivers and sending him down. 100% of his salary can be buried if he goes down. I fail to see the issue with the contract.

I don't think it makes much logical sense to compare a $1M depth defenseman signing to the Nurse contract, but knock yourself out.

Was going to post the same thing. I don’t have a lot of faith in Perunovich, but he’s clearly a talented puck mover. Could really blossom if he could be suitable 5 on 5 defensively and use a shot to open up some lanes for others in a PP
That's pretty crazy, it was not long ago that he has quite a bit of hype behind him

Wasnt Brown supposed to be the Desharnais replacement?

Why would the Oilers give him 3 yrs if their plan was to keep in the minors to mentor.

At least one of Puljujarvi, Puustinen or Poulin are going to hit the waiver wire. I think they keep the other two but there's still time for someone like McGroarty to force their way in.

Pens may also make a vet or two like Eller or Acciari available early in the season to make room for some of the kids. Those two won't hit waivers though I don't think.

I was curious because not sure how a goalie who has been injured the last few years and only played 3 games last year and spent lengthy time on the LTIR that last 4 years could be viewed a waiver gem
Well, if you can't figure out which Matt Murray would be put on waivers by the Leafs, then it's not at all surprising that you can't figure this out either.

You need explain how at this point in he is would be considered a waiver gem. The reason I asked which Murray was because I thought there was no way in hell the Matt Murray that goalie in leaf camp would considered any kind of gem at this point in time unless you are suggesting "because he is a leaf" he suddenly has value.

I ask which Murray cause I wanted a clarification and just how tight your homer glasses were on even considering Murray has anything left in his tank for the nhl. I hope that clarifies why I asked because not many leaf fans think he has anything left.

Title of thread is waiver gems and I do not see how Murray is anything but fodder for the pile after the past 4 season.

You can mock me as much as you like for asking a question to make sure I understood which Murray you were talking about but for you to suggest he could be a waiver wire gem suggest you might not know too much about him as well
