How much retention do you need? Hawks won’t be comfortable going over the 2-2.5 million range in retention.

Try capwages. Still a work in progress but almost a carbon copy of capfriendly.

It’s a bit up in the air/matters who the Avs send back. For example if Landy is done or the Avs send back Manson($4.5m)+Wood ($2.5m) the $2-2.5m should work out capwise. Obviously the more retention the better, but given the length of term still remaining I think that range is probably reasonable.

So let’s say we start off with Manson+Wood ($7m). What would the Hawks want asset wise to land Jones at $2.5m retained?

Manson has another year and Wood has four left. Tbh, I think that would end up being expensive for the Avs. Like a first and a good prospect at least.

Honestly I’m probably be willing to pay that price. Does the following trade get close?

To Chi:
Manson ($4.5)
Wood ($2.5)
2026 first
2025 fourth
Ritchie

To Col
Jones ($2m retained)
Reichel

How do Hawks fans view Reichel? Is he someone you guys want to see if he puts it all together on? He’s a bit hard to read from an outsiders perspective
Pretty much. He’s still young in age and, more importantly IMO, physical development. Too early to give up on him.

I don’t see the Hawks moving him anytime soon unless it’s for another young player/prospect with similar upside or part of a package for a big name. But what do I know.

Thats’s fair, I appreciate the insight!

With Josh Manson falling off a cliff, I could see them having serious interest in Jones. That’s pretty much the only way the money can work.

I doubt Davidson is looking at Middlestadt and trading futures for him.
No surprise Manson has fallen off a cliff. Players like him don’t age well into their 30s.

So we have Dallas who needs a RHD badly and Colorado who wants one for the top 4…this could be a fun deadline

Nashville and Philadelphia each have 3 first rounders and Calgary has 2
..
Forget Nashville trading any of theirc3 as theycare re-buikdingbon the fly after a disappointing gvsesson near the bottom
.
Maybe Calgary trades theirx2ndvpick I round 2 ay TDL ..but do notbknow of any Hawks player we would trade is worth that unless it is Mrazek...Not sure if Calgary is targeting a goalie IF they are near a playoff spot at TDL..

Have to check which extra pick they own.

the main boards talking about us scouting COL generally says that who ever gives mikio R 14 mil is going to regret it. I go back and forth if I would prefer marner or him at the same # of years and AAV. size wise he makes more sense.

I'm not sure if we have any more assets to get us 1st rounders but I'm no longer interested in 2025 1sts. I want to accumulate as many 2026 1sts as possible as that draft is looking quite stacked.

I'd take Marner over Rantanen if both were on the table for similar money. I think Marner would be the perfect linemate for Bedard.

I would also like to see Marner play playoff hockey on a team other than Toronto.

I think everyone and their brother is in the same boat as you, meaning I would be really surprised if any team is trading a future 2026 first round pick any time soon.

Well I remember that 2015 draft was looking stacked yet Bowman still traded away his first. You never know...

I meant that I don't think anyone is going to be trading a 2026 first round pick until we are in the 2025 - 2026 season.

EDIT: And don't you wish we would have held onto our pick in 2015, lost to Anaheim, and drafted Nick Merkley??

Better off giving Bennett 7 million and Boeser 8-8.5
How many years? I'm not sure I'd want either on anything more than a 3 or 4 year deal.

Boeser has a ton of injuries and Bennett plays a really heavy game and next season will be in his 30s. He's going to age poorly, I'd imagine.

Probably shouldnt be signing any of them.
