I see our roster for next year looking like the following

CBedard
*top six UFA
*top six UFA
TTeravainen
TBertuzzi
*RDonato signed to extension
NFoligno
FNazar
JDickinson
LReichel
NLardis
LSlaggert
*CGuttman extended

SJones
AVlasic
KKorchinski
TKBrodie
*WKaiser extended
NAllan
EDelMastro

PMrazek
LBrossiot
*ASoderblom extended

Two top six UFA forwards will be signed, Donato reupped, Kaiser and Guttman extended, Murphy gets moved this trade deadline, one of the three goalies traded at seasons beginning

Question is which two top six UFA forwards do the Hawks sign July 1st 2025???

Marner, Rantanen, Tavares, Boeser, Marchand, Ehlers, Nelson, Kane, Duchene, Granlund?

Only one of them is right handed. Maybe Lev comes up or they sign someone? It's also way too bottom heavy in terms of experience as I think Brodie is cooked and won't be on the team next year.

Now would be good time to hit up Rangers for Kakko after today

He hasn't been scoring recently but from all indications and stats he has been one of the most reliable Ranger forwards defensively if not most reliable

We could use a 30-40 pt young two-way RW for our top 9

Lavi responded that he holds vet players accountable in same manner but reporters didn't get a specific names but it appears he was talking about Jimmy Vesey and Jonny Brodzinski, LOL

You know the 4th liners that rotate in and out of lineup

Kurashev and 2nd for Kakko

Teravainen-Bedard-Kakko

Leave that line for 10 games.

I'm down for that in the Rags take it but maybe I'm letting my dislike of Kurashev cloud my judgment. But hey let Teravainen mentor his fellow countrymen and see what happens.

I'd be happy if they acquired Kakko, but his skating is terrible. I'd be surprised if KD had any interest.

If he could manage to keep up with Nazar I could see him being a great linemate for him with Kakko's puck possession skills.

Don't stand for the Hawks. Stand for Kyle Beech.

I have no idea what the rangers want but I wonder about Dickinsons value these days. Probably not enough for Kakko but a decent starting point.

That is the roster of a team drafting in the top 5 of the 2026 draft. Might as well tank for McKenna and I also doubt any of those UFAs come to Chicago. I'm looking at CapWages and I'm not seeing much for Chicago to trade at the deadline. Especially if Nashville, NYR, and NYI start selling off. They have better players that teams will want. Murphy is the best trade bait and maybe toss in Hall if it gets you back a first.

I wonder if Fla would do and Ekblad for Jones to get rid of that contract. Jones will be in his decline the time this rebuild produces a playoff team.

I know I sound like a "Debbie Downer" but this team will be ready in 26-27 IMO. Plenty of the young guys will be ready then. Also, the division will be easier in a couple years with the good teams now cap strapped and aging.

Why would Florida do Ekblad for Jones?

It's no worse than Bertuzzi who Davidson just gave big contract this past summer

Vancouver supposedly is working very hard to get a top 4 D trade done. You would guess Desharnais would be involved.

Maybe it’s Murphy they’re looking at. I’d do him for Desharnais and a Vancouver 1st. Desharnais stinks so you don’t have to play him, and mostly bury-able, leaving room for the kids to stay up should they continue to play well.

Kurashev having to be matched at a 10-15% raise is ‘terrible’…

Don’t want to see Davidson let him walk like the others before did for NO RETURN
Kurashev for Saad no matter how it is sliced will be genuinely awful. Saad isnt even good enough for the Blues anymore and is beyond cooked (really he has been cooked since 2018)

When it comes down to it you dont trade a 25 yearold who has shown he can be a 3rd liner for a player who is not even NHL quality anymore.

You have to consider that other teams are going to make calls too. I think in any deal right now, Kurashev does absolutely nothing and might even carry negative value. Reichel may be a good complimentary piece to a deal like this but still doesn't get it done with an early 2nd.

I'm just spitballing but for the Blackhawks offer to be the best offer the Sabres get AND good enough for them to take, I feel like you have to put Oliver Moore in there with Reichel and Toronto's first this year. Then maybe the Sabres take that but I don't know if the Hawks should offer that.

The history of Buffalo trading away underachieving players only for them to later find their form makes this weird.
IMO, that's a significant overpay for a guy who has shat the bed after signing for $7million per year and has like 6 years left on that deal.
