taige has 10 pts in 17 games. I know one game he had 4 pts (all A) my guess is we do sign him just to see what we have. KD likes size on the backend and he has that. Even if it just AHL guy it would kind of make sense.

I've brought this point up before and I'd like for the Hawks to sign him too. But I don't think he would sign here as there are many young LHD ahead of him and all he has to do is wait until August and he can sign with any team he wants. It just wouldn't make a lot of sense to him to sign here if I were him.

Teams that may be making moves sooner

Kakko
Chytil
Miller
Krebs
Quinn
Power
Cozens
Rosen
Helenius
Raty
Hoglander

Philipp Kurashev, after steady improvement every season, 16 21 25 and then 54pts, has stalled, his play I feel affects Bedard reaching his potential…shakeup trade needs to happen at some point…I remember he was once close to being koved to Columbus instead of Boqvist in the Seth Jones deal…Kekalinen isn’t there anymore so that’s probably a no go…but player of same age/potential coming back the other way would be nice…what do you think the Hawks could fetch for him? We’ve seen Strome, Kubalik and Raddysh just walked away from…gotta think(hope) they don’t do the same with Kurashev
How about Kurashev and 2025 Dallas 2nd, 2026 4th to NYR for Kakko and a 2026 3rd?

Saad needs to complete his midwest tour and play for Minnesota and Detroit anyway

Illinois
Missouri
Ohio
Colorado

dudes made so much progress already probably got Caseys at least once in all of those states

I'm seeing some chatter on X regarding Cozens. Trade 1 rehabilitatión "change of scenery required" project for another?

Sabres get: Reichel, Kurashev, our 1st 2025 2nd RP
WE get: Cozens - no term eaten

Who says no?

Good skater who had promise to develop a 200 foot 2way game. Put him w/ CB98.

My guess is Sabres say no

Buffalo would have to be extremely stupid to trade Cozens: which they are.

Chicago should go all in to get him BUT I don’t think Chicago is a match unless we are taking about Nazar. Buffalo is exhausted with rebuilding- they’ll want known NHL commodities. However, I’m doubtful Nazar would qualify.

What do we add or modify? Drop the 2nd rounder and make it our late FRP?
It’s hard to tell what they would realistically even want from us. My guess is they’re looking to get a center back in a move for cozens. I don’t think they’ll want draft picks or young roster players.

You have to consider that other teams are going to make calls too. I think in any deal right now, Kurashev does absolutely nothing and might even carry negative value. Reichel may be a good complimentary piece to a deal like this but still doesn't get it done with an early 2nd.

I'm just spitballing but for the Blackhawks offer to be the best offer the Sabres get AND good enough for them to take, I feel like you have to put Oliver Moore in there with Reichel and Toronto's first this year. Then maybe the Sabres take that but I don't know if the Hawks should offer that.

The history of Buffalo trading away underachieving players only for them to later find their form makes this weird.

It's kind of the identical scenario for us. We trade away assets and they thrive elsewhere.

Oh man why did you have to go there? :)

But at least we're never trading disgruntled high draft picks that were supposed to be stars only for them to win cups somewhere else? Plus we have success stories with acquiring cap dumps who have found success here like Dickinson and Mrazek.

Despite the disaster of the press conference, Kevyn Adams does have a point. Due to Buffalo being... well Buffalo, the high NY taxes, and lack of success since Obama's first term, attracting free agents is no small task and almost every player worth trading for has some kind of NMC. My question would be around their player development org. Outside of Peterka, they haven't drafted anyone that has contributed anything significant to the team after the top 10. You can't blame that on the weather and taxes.

Given his age wouldn't he be a 2-year ELC? I don't see a downside for him to sign. Intentionally waiting until August is very risky if you're not an in-demand player. Between the end of the season and August 15th, another draft and free agent period ticks by, which further pushes an older and perceived lower ceiling prospect down the priority list. Rejecting an NHL contract offer in hand to try and play a future depth chart game doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's not like there's anybody out there that will be offering him a fulltime NHL role in 2025-26 and Rockford should have a spot for him next season.

You might be right. Time will tell on this one but I wouldn't be upset or surprised either way.

Buffalo says no.

Cozens being owed 7.1 for 5 more years is a bit of a gamble at this point coming off a pretty significant step backwards last season and not exactly rebounding this (on pace for 35 points currently).

Murphy (if Buffalo is not on his 10 team no trade list) with some retention (or taking back Conner Clifton's cap) would probably be a good fit for Buffalo who has lots of good young LHD and are putrid with right shot D with Joker/Clifton the only 2 on the roster. Murphy (retained or Clifton back) plus Reichel or Kurashev with a high 2nd might be realistic, if the Sabres have soured on Cozens production dipping and are afraid he wil be a negative value contract for 5 more years.

It seems to be quite obvious that Hawks have to make a trade .... for Bedard's sake if nothing else. Problem being that other teams are well aware of the situation in Chicago and will try and fleece KD. Not to mention the reluctance of some players to go to a bottom feeder team. Unfortunately, KD will certainly need to overpay to acquire a decent top-6 player.

I guess there is always the possibility that KD can manage to trade with Stan. LOL

Yeah agreed, picks and prospects do nothing for them at this point.

We could do a 3 way trade though by trading those assets to the the 3 team that sends them NHL ready talent.

They’re screwed no matter what they do. They want to keep all their young talent? This will continue.

Nazar isn’t being traded. We’re poor partners if they’re looking for young nhl talent, because that’s what we’re looking for. Best prospect I’d give up is Oliver Moore.

“Here, take our 4th liners (Reichel/Kurashev) for a 6’3 elite skating former 30 goal center”

^ say that out loud and you’ll realize how insanely dumb that proposal is.
