There’s no way Detroit eats half that contract for both the remainder of this season plus all of next year too, and certainly not for the fairly meager return he’d get. Even if they did retain half, we’re better off utilizing that cap space elsewhere.

Would anyone else be interested in a Colton Parayko deal?
He was one of my top targets but the blues have him and Faulk as their top 2 RD, not to mention they signed him longterm not long ago, I doubt they trade him. They’re deeper at LD if they felt like parting with a piece for say a forward.

I’d love any of the Utah RD; durzi, Marino, kesselring. They just signed durzi and I can’t imagine they get rid of a guy like kesselring (25, RD, has size, this year AND next at a meager salary). I wonder if Marino would come fairly cheap.

Jones makes too much, same with Karlsson (unless we’re moving bob right now which is highly highly doubtful). Parayko I doubt. Possibly one of the young LA RD, Spence or Clarke, preferably Clarke but I think they’d be stupid to part with him unless it was a bigger deal and idk if Spence is really what we’re looking for.

I doubt we swing too big given our assets and cap space, but anyone middling/decent pairing 2nd line RD would be a welcome addition

Guys like Ristolainen and jokiharu could be realistic targets

The Score reading our boards:

5 trades we'd like to see at the TDL Karlsson to Florida:

Let's end with a bang. The 4 Nations was the first time we saw Karlsson in a playoff environment since 2019. It would be a shame if we didn't get to see him in the postseason at least once more.

The Panthers need an impact player on the backend. Dmitry Kulikov, who was good on the third pairing last season, is playing up the lineup in the top four. Karlsson would bump Kulikov back down and replace Aaron Ekblad on the top power-play unit.

Florida would need help to make the salary work. Karlsson is under contract for another two seasons after this year at a $10-million cap hit. The Penguins are currently retaining two players, but both contracts expire at the end of the season. Pittsburgh could retain some on Karlsson if the price was worth it.

Karlsson to the Panthers is the longest shot on this list, but it's the most fun trade to imagine.

Pretty accurate except for suggesting the possibility of Ekblad not getting all the PP minutes

Wow, didn't know Denisenko was still in the NHL
Still hasn't scored a NHL goal in 33 games.
Had a decent showing in AHL last year, 20 goals and 56 points in 65 games.
Played 1 NHL game this year with Vegas and 10 goals, 24 points in 42 AHL games this year.

Too bad, he had some big hype in the WJC and first year we drafted him but looking at the 1st round picks of that 2018 draft, Denisenko is like bottom 5 of 31 guys for games played.
Most of that draft has 200-300 or so games under their belt.

Very much a bust.

I think we could use Karlsson.

But I also think he would be a 3rd pairing guy. He would be like Yandle. Which then is also my concern. Our Karlsson was Montour. The thing with Montour is he had some physicality to him. Does EK have that?
