Speculation: Potential TDL adds we can get?

Tampa finished as the 8th team in the league in both the 21 and 22 seasons and still made the finals those years. We’re currently tied for 11th in points percentage. And haven’t we had a tough schedule too? Sure they haven’t been playing lights out but we’re still right around there as a top-10 team and that’s after two long and difficult seasons. Plus our D could be strengthened. When you’ve been to back to back finals I think it becomes harder for them to reallllllly care about regular season games. They’ll be ok.

But as always, the constant reminder remains. The regular season doesn’t equal the post season. I don’t think we’ll win the cup, I would never assume that, but I think they’ll still be a hard out. When they try their best it becomes difficult for any team to match up. I do think some defensive help/depth would certainly help in general though

Unpopular opinion: Punt this year, whatever happens happens, load up next year after the cap goes up.

I think that’s what is going to happen.

Even if they add some pieces, I don’t see them making a long run.

As long as they don’t lose to Toronto or Montreal if they make it, I will be fine with whatever happens.

What are the conditions on that 2026 1st in Calgary control, sent in the Tkachuk trade?

Should Zito maybe get a retained Karlsson? 3 million or so that brings him closer to 7 mil. Send Rodrigues in the deal to offset the cap
Pair him with Forsling, play some PP and see who produces more, him or Ekblad?
Gives some insurance if Ekblad isn't brought back or locks in a decent top 4 for another year or two if Ekblad re-signs?

I just think it’s highly unlikely they retain as much as 3per when he’s got 2yrs remaining after this season. I know we had interest in him before he ultimately went to the penguins and I think he’d be a great fit on the 2nd with Mikkola, I’d still deploy Forsling and Ekblad together against the toughest matchups though. I’m sure there will be those who are completely against it but the biggest hurdle in general is the cap. 10per for another 2yrs isn’t easy to work out, especially for a team like us who are actively locking in their guys

I hope we are in on something big and clever… Or that Zito just goes bargain-bin hunting for this year, and wait for next when we will have loads of picks and cap-space to take advantage of !

Yes Nemec would be a huge add but unsure we have the assets they'd want? He definitely has the tools to be a top pair defender.
