Speculation: Potential TDL adds we can get?

If anyone wants a deeper-dive, the Athletic has just released players cards for skaters across all divisions. Here's the link for the Atlantic:

I had a quick look at our team and obviously, we're not where we were last year in terms of our individual player stats. Really hoping the guys can turn it around in the second half of the season... What's interesting is that individual players are still generating surplus market value compared to their current contracts, albeit mostly living down to those contracts rather than vastly out-performing them as they did last year. The only exception being Ekblad with a current market value of $5.7m. Here are the cards for him and Bennett:

If these were police mugshots, based on the pictures alone, you’d wonder what the hell this Ekblad guy did to get booked, but you wouldn’t wonder at all about Bennett.

It probably won't happen, but maybe acquiring Klingberg would help the team?

Play him on the 2nd or maybe even 3rd pair EV to mask his defensive deficiencies, but replace him with Ekblad on the 1st PP Unit, which would maybe allow Ekblad to eat more minutes in EV or the PK.

Idk, just throwing it out there. There isn't exactly many dman options available.

Can only hope the Andersson rumour is true.. but it's Pagnotta, and the flames have expressed they have no desire to move him, so there's that.

doesn't sound like anyone believes klingberg will be of any service. filipovic suggests jake walman as a potential target.

i don't think we're going to add the biggest name so someone like this guy probably makes sense.

they discuss our current state on the pod and i mostly agree. i think the guys who carry the team are looking forward to the 4 nations face off and just want to get through these games with energy to spare for that. i bet we'll see a little lull after that, too but at some point in feb/march, i expect the commitment to our game to step back up.

We're in no position to acquire Andersson anyway. We're coming up on 4 straight years without a 1st rounder, we can't possibly make it 5, or 5 out of 6. They want at least a 1st and a prospect, so that would be Devine and a 1st, or McAllister and a 1st. That would absolutely gut our pipeline, and it's barely hanging on by a thread right now. It's gonna have to be low cost acquisitions, traditional Zito-type pickups.

I think we can. The rebuild is not coming soon.
McAllister and a 1st.

Our scouting and developing in the late 1st round hasn't been historically good, lately its been good but if we want to win another Cup, I have no issues mortgaging lottery tickets (late 1sts who won't contribute for ~4 years) for the win now mode.
Just my .02

Andersson has 2 years so I'd be okay trading another 1st since it's 2 years. Sounds like the flames aren't trading him for now though.

For rentals they should be low close though

That's fair. But it's a whole new amateur scouting staff, and pro scouting staff. Plus it's Zito running the show, not Tallon, Martin, or Keenan. Samo looks like a hit on the early returns, and Lundell was a good pick , even if it was mid-1st compared to late 1st. Even prior picks like Knight in 2019(13th) and Tippett in 2017(10th), look good. I trust this management and scouting. Even great staffs have busts once in awhile(Denisenko). But I think they will hit more than miss .

I’m beginning to think that this is what the whole team wants to do but nobody’s talking about it.

they all know what they're capable of in that room. no team has been able to hit our fastball this year. we just haven't had the juice that many nights. against the top teams though, we've dug down and shown we still have it.

it's all pacing, imo. even with a hole or two in the lineup, this team is more than capable of repeating. no team is perfect and a lot will happen before april. there's no way anyone in the org is giving up on the year. we're still very close to the top in terms of odds to win the cup and there's a reason for that.

Yup, Vegas, Dallas, Carolina, NJ, Toronto, Winnipeg, Minnesota, we even beat Edmonton playing half-assed while they were in the middle of their hottest streak.
