OT: Potential Sens in the Olympics

I know he'd been to the World Championships.

As much as I like Methot, I hope he doesn't make the team. ;)

He'd end up as the Rob Zamuner and be universally despised.

Part of me doesn't want methot to make the team because of the possibility of an injury and another part of me wants him to make the team because it would be a great honor for him play for team canada.

One of the most underrated players in the league in my opinion, including me before he played a month or so in Ottawa.

Hoping for

Pie-Weber
Keith-Seabrook
Methot-Doughty
Subban

He was really good with Ottawa so far.

Don't get me wrong.

He may have ended up as MVP for last year.

He was certainly the most dependable Senator over the balance of the season.

Still, Olympic Team Canada? Tough call.

There's a poll on the Polls board that is interesting because it points out the LHD and RHD. Against his peers, he doesn't look as bad.

It is what it is. With Crosby(Olympic experience), Stamkos, Giroux, Thornton(Olympic experience), Staal(Olympic experience), Getzlaf(Olympic experience), Tavares, Toews(Olympic experience and MVP) down the middle it's hard for him to get a spot.

Then there's guys like Duchene, Carter, Bergeron, Richards, Jordan Staal, Couture who aren't on the same level as Spezza offensively, but bring other elements.

You know what, I didn't think he got snubbed but after writing my post I think he did lol. Couture, Jordan Staal and Duchene over Spezza? Seriously? Especially Couture, that's laughable.

Team Canada has always had something against Spezza for some reason.

This.

Healthy Spezza is better than most of the forwards invited to that camp. Maybe they're waiting to see if he can be healthy this season? Hopefully he plays with a chip on his shoulder again.

I made a poll about this possibility a while ago on the polls board. Most people said he wouldn't get invited. Nice to see he did.

Why are people surprised?

1) Look at the position he plays, and the competition for C
2) Spezza is not versatile. He can't play wing
3) Look at the history between HC and Spezza

Obviously never expected him to make the team, but not even getting an invite leaves a bitter taste.

I guess missing this last season really hurt him. :dunno:

Hard to imagine he's not invited if he goes PPG+ this past season and finishes anywhere near top 10 in scoring.

Not shocked, but severly disappointed.

Ugh. Still so stupid. I hate HC.

Yep,

Crosby
Bergeron
Toews
Tavares
E.Staal
Thornton
Stamkos

Would only take Crosby and Stamkos on that list over Spezza, and Stamkos should be playing wing in this tournament anyway.

I certainly didn't think so.

The only thing in his favour was playing in a bunch of World Championships IIRC.

Wow, sorry I'd take everyone on that list over Spezza other than maybe Thornton.

Carter
Richards
Duchene
Couture
Getzlaf

are also centers on the main list.

Besides, I'd like to see Spezza rested for the playoffs.

He should be at the camp, but I'm not sure he'd make it ahead of some of the other guys.

He's just a season removed from an 84 point performance.

Hopefully it galvanizes him to start the season on a tear and make Team Canada's management look stupid.
