what do you think the percentage is of Knies playing for us this season?

1 regular season game? Very high.

In the playoffs? Low chance. I can see a world where he does, but i'm not sure he's even the first man in with injury over McMann/Holmberg - we'll see.

Holmberg is the first one in up front. Holl on D. I would start Murray in goal if you asked me today, but that could change.

Kerfoot is a black offensive hole on the third line
Not enough to beat tampa
We needed 3 scoring lines
With Knies we have 3 lines, a great number of players who can play a great 4th line. Our defense is unreal, the question is goal now.

If Knies doesnt sign now, he is crazy. Get Mathews on the phone.

Yeah I don’t get the “what if he’s not ready!!” people, Robertson came in direct to the playoffs when he was younger than Knies and was 5’8 170 not 6’3 220.

It was not the same thing.... toronto had some injury and a lack of depht against columbus, so robertson find a spot... right now every body is healthy and toronto still dont have spot for holmberg...

And sorry its not the time to make try out with rookie with all those newcomers, they need time to create a chemistry together

So chance to see knies for me its maybe 10%... and nothing guarantee than he will not go back in NCAA for a last season

Leafs added Ryan O’Reilly, Sam Lafferty, Noel Acciari, Jake McCabe, Luke Schenn, and Erik Gustafsson without sacrificing a top prospect. They also somehow recouped a 2023 first. That’s a phenomenal deadline no matter how you slice it.

Dubie has his boys really working hard pimping him , lol .

''omg , somehow Dubas managed to recoup a 1st'' , it's like a mystery wrapped in a riddle how he acquired a 1st , lol

it's still cup or bust , if we get knocked out early or even late Leaf nation isn't going to give a damn about Dubie trading for ROR and a bunch of depth players

Everyone and their dog saying the Leafs were one of the big winners and its tough not to agree.

Added a ton of grit to the bottom of the lineup, a solid top 4 defensive D at a steal contract for 2 more years plus a great two-way top-six center in ROR for this run. Forward and D depth is the greatest it has ever been for this Leafs team and goaltending looks bright with Murray back to health and Woll making massive strides.

Absolute knockout of a deadline.

Did a quick search of as many "deadline winners and losers" news sites I could find and only 1 didnt list the Leafs as one of the big winners.

Now its time to find which lines/parings gel and prepare for the war ahead.

Pretty clear that only one of these teams is appreciably better than last year.

Pretty clear they kept a roster spot in the lineup open for Matthew Knies. I wonder if this coaching staff sees/want him on the second or third line…

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander/Marner
Jarnkork - Tavares - Nylander/Marner
Knies - ROR - Kerfoot
Accirari - Kampf - Lafferty

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Liljergen
Giordano - Holl/Schenn

Pretty damn good team that is legitimately deep for the first time in a while. That 4th line will be a pain to play against

The 2022 defense group in which Muzzin is hypothetically healthy is the better of those two defenses. But Muzzin wasn't healthy. The acquisition of McCabe and Schenn just brought the defense back near to what it's expected to be with Muzzin still able to play.

The 4th line seems more suitable although it needs these players to get familiar with the team and linemates over the next weeks. A 4th line that wasn't just cobbled together unit is much more formidable. O'Reilly as 3rd line center is a luxury not seen since Kadri as the 3rd line center. A 3rd line that is both a matchup line and a scoring threat is often a playoff difference maker.

I like ROR at 3C, I honestly don't think he's good enough for top 6 at this point in his career...however, he'd be anchoring a great 3rd line if you give him fast defensively responsible players on his wings.

That 2nd line LW spot will need to be filled internally, hopefully Knies/McMann can grab it at some point, it's a longshot.
