The only positive of a in-house Sacco replacing Monty is they will most likely hit rock bottom by the end of the season for certain now and be assured of a high draft pick and the chances of a total house cleaning ala 2006 will still be good. An outside coach would of stood a better chance of getting that new coach bump.

He galaxy brained every decision in that series. Playing a slow-footed Forbort who hadn't seen game action in months. Not pulling Ullmark in game 6 despite him clearly appearing to be injured. The insane blendering of the lineup for game 5 after they just won back to back on the road.

I think he deserves only a small share of the blame for how this season has turned out. But he played a huge role in that '23 choke job.

Don't know if Sacco would be a better coach, but it seems highly likely that a change would defuse some of the building tension between Montgomery and the players. That could help settle things down at least and put the focus back on the ice. Montgomery's relationship with at least several players seems to have become part of the problem.
