Here are my updated rankings.

The first thing that may stick out to many is where I have Reinbacher ranked. If you have been on the prospect section of this site at all this year you know how bullish I am on Reinbacher and his game. It is a weak year for defenders and I believe Reinbacher will be the first one selected. He is the type of player that GM's appreciate more than fans. Here is what I wrote about it on the Senators board:

Another thing I would like to note is that although I always say I am not a good goalie evaluator, and I stand by this statement - I believe it is a VERY strong year for goaltending talent. From my count, there are 4-5 goalies in this draft that I could see as late first-round goalies in previous years where goaltending was rather weak. There is also a different type of goalie for every GM. You have the big guys that fill the net and rely a bit more on positioning in Damian Clara and Michael Hrabal, the "Smaller" more athletic goalies in Scott Ratzlaff and Trey Augustine or the best of both worlds in Carson Bjarnson and Adam Gajan.

Some may question my ranking of Sandin Pellinka - I think I have too much trouble trying to see how he projects into the NHL in order to rank him higher I don't see the upside here to pick him higher than the late first. He is small and struggles with puck retrievals at times. As he moves to a smaller ice surface these weaknesses will continue to be more profound. We have seen it before with Arizona prospect Victor Soderstrom, who I think Sandin Pelikka reminds me quite a bit of.

A couple of risers on my list have been two players from Sudbury - Quentin Musty and Matthew Mania. These guys struggled early in the season to produce offensively but since a coaching change, they have been MUCH better. Musty still has issues regarding his level of engagement and decision-making and is overall a risky selection but you can't ignore the production since Derek MacKenzie came in, if he can fix up a few things to his game - he can be a first-line winger in the NHL. As for Mania, he is an offensive threat that is a fantastic skater and has good size at 6'0" - if he can improve his defensive game I think he could be a very good defender in the NHL.

I will be releasing my Final draft rankings just after the Memorial Cup - and I will have write-ups for every player I project to have in my first two rounds. As always I will try my best to answer any questions thrown my way.

@GermanSpitfire , I really appreciate your work! Always respected your opinion and knowledge here.

Just curious why you rated Nadeau low, when he's been on the fringes of the 1st round in most lists.

And no Suniev in your top 100? I feel I like I'm the only one on this board that talks about him.

Curious to hear your thoughts on these two. Heidt seems to be a consensus late first at best while Yager is ranked in a similar spot by most scouting services, but I've heard from multiple WHL and NHL scouts that they have Yager closer to where EliteProspects has him (#23) or even outside of the first round. Not saying you're wrong at all, just curious to hear your reasoning, as I haven't seen much of either one.
Heidt just has been good on almost every game I watched. He is playmaker first. I like the pace of play, hands and compete. Shot is good, not great. He can play down the middle if you need him to. He drives lot of the plays for his team and is good in transition. His defensive play leaves something to be desired but he at least tries to defend well even though he ain't no Zach Benson when it comes to defense. Somebody compared Heidt to Dawson Mercer and I kinda liked that comp.

Yager has been rock solid shoot-first two-way center with potentially lethal shot. Lately he has been solid playmaker(better than you might think) as well when his shot has not been giving result and he can drive plays even when he is not scoring goals. He is better defensively than Heidt, natural center and is pretty good at faceoffs. His drought in goalscoring kinda forced me to drop him a bit but I still like him and his upside.

I might be wrong but I have watched like around 6 games from both from start of the season and this is what I tend to get from them. I just like the upside and projectability both guys have.

Nadeau I really liked coming into the year - guys that are good skaters and have a great motor are kids that I am usually very high on. Problem that I keep asking to myself is one that continues to reoccor with Nadeau and other similar prospects like Brindley, Barkey and to a lesser extent Leonard.

Where do I see them slotting in an NHL lineup?

Personally I don’t see high end upside with these kids - I think they can be valuable role players. But I don’t know how much these kids can bring to the table - I’ll have a much better idea in My final ranking. Size is also an issue for me.

And I’m not big on Suniev - he’d be worthy of a mid round pick but skating and Questions regarding how his offence will translate going forward give me pause.

This is sort of a hypothetical "If I had a list list". I usually don't start watching most prospects until the Spring. I'll put in 100 hours before the draft. So this early, some of these kids I've only seen 5-10 minutes of.

I'd also like to post this kind of list, as my knowledge of the 2023 draftees is currently really limited.

draft rankings by me (top 64, Goalies separate because it's hard to rank them against skaters and I suck at Goalie scouting) (reposted because I called Brzustewicz his brother's name)

If I did have to rank Goalies here, Bjarnason would have been 34th. Hrabal somewhere in the mid 2nd.

Agreed for the most part. I think Leonard will be overdrafted if he's in the top-10. But...

He's essentially the easiest lock to become a 20 goal scorer in the NHL outside of the top-6. I see him as a 25g 20a type of player, that plays on the 2nd line and might have a couple huge seasons if he plays with a #1 center.

He just has that true goal scorers instinct, puts himself in the right spot and can create his own chances as well as finish tap ins.

Mad respect for the work you put in. What's your take on Oliver Moore? 14 is by no means "low" but a lot of people have him top 10. Would also be curious to hear your thoughts on Danielson.

With Moore - he’s actually been a slow cooker this season for me. He has gradually risen up each list I have done so far this year.
I can see why many would have him top-10, I’m just not that ready to make such a distinction. This class has MANY great forward prospects, guys with higher upsides than Moore.
I guess the question comes down to this, does Moore have the potential the become more than a middle 6 winger In the NHL? I’m not ready to confidently say yes or no to that. And that’s why I “only“ have him at 14.
In the end, from what I’ve seen from Moore is he is a relasivly safe player who will play in The NHL some day in some capacity.

With Nate Danielson, he is a relatively similar player to Oliver Moore in that he probably isn’t going to wow you with his flashiness, he is just a quietly effective two way forward with good size, mobility and IQ.
He is a very good two-way forward leading the offence for a pretty bad Brandon team. He is a great skater with great vision in the offensive end, being able to make some pretty difficult passes.
His game away from the puck is very mature for a player his age. He positions himself very well to help teammates and provide pressure to the puck carrier. He is the type of kid that NHL scouts are going to love more than your traditional hobby scout.

Will have one more adjustment after the playoffs are over but most players are solidifying their spots, ranges at least. Few guys outside the first that should be getting more attention from the masses are Myatovic, Lipinski, Kipkie and McMillan. Potential big value picks with them, hoping Kipkie gets taken to U18s so I can see him away from the Victoria team. I knew it watching them in bantam but I highly doubt there will ever be a year like the 05s again in western Canada. Even with some late 04s on this list there are quite a few 05s who chose the college path
