The Jet's really need to aquire a dynamic second line center to contend for the Cup. I hope they can aquire Duchene or RNH from Edmonton.

Funny, we go 7 wins and 3 losses but it seems like we suck. So many bad games.

That's because in the month of January imo they have only truly outplayed the other team in 3 games:

Jan 6 game against Dallas

Jan 8 game against Colorado

Jan 17 game in Nashville

Maybe one could also make a case for the Vegas game but that's literally it

Jets are a middle of the pack team in 5 on 5 goal differential

Middle of the pack team in Corsi

Bottom 3rd team in xGoals

Middle of the pack team in PK

Literally the only metrics where they are close to the elite teams in the NHL are the PP and the SV% (largely on the back of Brossoit). Everything else other than that has the Jets being a 10-16th ranked team in the NHL. That is why it feels like we suck.

Why? Capitals won last year and not when they were truly stacked. Playoffs are random anyway, so it doesn’t really matter what team you have in the end. Only the goalies and puck luck matter.

Always seems like he takes a bit to get in grooves. Probably the last person that needs a week off. Though listening to his interviews from the All Star game he does sound pretty congested. But yeah he was all around pretty awful tonight.

Those 2 are 1st line centers. Most real 2nd line centers score like little. Like backlund in Calgary. But he has an elite winger in tkuckuk who carries the line with around 60 points. Little isn't so lucky.

I agree. People need to disregard the last ten games record and just accept what they see on the ice.

Team is very mediocre.

Granted, there are a couple key injuries, but players never like using that excuse so neither should anyone else.

If the Jets can get a player of Matt Duchene's caliber than they should go for it.

We could use him on our second line.

Without Buff and Ehlers in our line up there are big holes and we are much better with these two players in our line up.

-Ehlers is the player that has great zone entry.
-Buff can dictate the play of our team and hold other team's accountable.

2 first line centers are just fine -- like Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin. If we aquire a 1st line center -- "great"-- one will play on the first line, the other on the 2nd line. We are absolutely "set' and sitting pretty if Chevy can aquire Duchene or RNH and make that happen.

Just don’t give away Niku, Vesalainen or a 1st round pick for a rental that won’t make any difference. We’re just not close enough yet. If we can put it all together at the right time with the team we got and have hot goaltending and puck luck, then terrific !

That looked like the Jets hadn't played in 8 days , problem with that though is the Flyers hadn't played in 8 also . Scheif and Wheeler looked like they were still at the All-STAR game , Connor skating but accomplished nothing . I don't know why when we are down a goal in the 3rd and getting no offense , why Maurice refuses to at least try Laine with Scheif .

They are also seen as the height of the West for last few years.
