When you give up on the season, stop giving a f*** and get a little drunk, games like this can actually be a little fun. It had a Monty Python's Flying Circus vibe. I was expeting Graham Chapman to pop up on ice, and stopping the game for being too silly.
I don't mind sucking for a bit if it leads somewhere, and I can have fun with it.

The problem is that it brings out the most toxic elements of what we're forced to read on here.

I don't comprehend this.

What do you mean by "little?"

Trochek 1st star for looking like he gives a shit
Borg 2nd star for the WWE takedown
Me 3rd star for watching most of it

We looked ok at times, but we still have no clue defensively and we just aren't getting the goal-tending we need on top of that.
I'm surprised Housley hasn't been let go yet. That seems like a pretty simple move that buys everything else some more time.
Housley out, Lavi gets told in no uncertain terms that the defensive structure has to be changed or he can go too.
Put the C on Trocheck and tell him that he now sets the standard for practice and game day.
Let all the players know that Trocheck is the bare minimum of standards and if they don't want to play that way they are welcome to have their trade lists on Drury's desk, or they can just sit in the box until he can work out a way to get rid of them.
Mika gets scratched or 4th line. CK gets scratched or IR.
Othmann comes up after 2 more weeks of AHL time
Promote Groulx over Carrack to reward AHL play

It's all really simple stuff, but this team has shown over the last 2 months that they don't have have the bare basics down, so it's time to go back to organizational hand-holding until people show that they can handle personal responsibility

Honestly this. I expect the team to suck at this point, so if they do, who cares? Every loss is one step closer to a better draft pick, and i have enough alcohol that i dont mind

This game was bad for different reasons than the past stretch. The team played their best period in over a month and yet come out of it down 2-1 bc Igor had to give up yet another softie. Highest paid goalie in the history of the league and he can’t come up with a save when his team needs it.

Early on in this stretch we had that game thanksgiving eve vs Carolina that we were leading 3-2 halfway thru the third and Igor gave up two softies in the 3rd the lose the game, as well as a softie to open the scoring and put us down 1-0 early. There were flaws then and there are flaws now but at a certain point your best player needs to pick up the slack for his teammates and not let them lose, no?

How is the team supposed to right the ship when their “best player” is letting them down? Panarin is their actual best player btw and rightfully makes more than Igor. I see tons of ppl on twitter defending Igor, sorry not tonight. The team is bad and makes mistakes but he’s paid to be the best and he’s not been the best all season. He should be expected to pick up the slack when his team is playing poorly that’s what he’s paid handsomely to do. You don’t pay your goalie 11.5m a season and then make excuses when he gives up goals, you’re paying him that much bc he can be an eraser and cover holes and mistakes. At least in theory, bc it sure as shit has never really been that way with Igor in reality aside from one season and two good but fruitless playoff runs.
