In bergfors" defense, he prob develops better in NJ then he did with a team that no longer exists.

He was traded off that team that no longer existed, while they still existed. He's a bust plain and simple. Good thing he went out after he left the Devils.

Was going through some old TG posts about Bergfors and Lemaire's comments about him when he was being scratched, which led me into reading more posts from that season which eventually led me to checking old threads for stuff and ultimately, the discovery of CerebalGensis being in on Parise/Suter conspiring together the whole time!

I've got a good one. It's off topic, but on the topic of predictions. Don't think I shared this with this board, but I did in a thread on the main board. I almost predicted the Devils PK meltdown in the SCF 2 months earlier during the Florida series. Not entirely, but my posts and what wound up happening was shockingly similar.

''I can't get excited about this team anymore. They can go up 5-0 on Thursday, and unless there is 5 minutes left in the game I still won't feel satisfied or be convinced they will win.

With their luck they'll get a major penalty, and be on this bogus POS PK they got going for 5 the rest of the game, and give up a goal every minute. With how horrible, and poor this PK is I wouldn't put it past them.''

Don't know if anyone else has posted this, but the other possibility is finding some team desperate to get under next year's cap and trading prospects for players.

Toronto, for example, is already over next year's cap and they have a ton of important free agents this summer. They might be motivated to move a guy like Kulemin for a couple of prospects just to keep their cap manageable.

I'd be alright with Kulemin. 1m more than Ponikarovsky for a similar player who's younger. Kulemin - Josefson - Clarkson would be a damn good 3rd line.

I know it's probably a pipe dream but I would love to see Jarome Iginla in a Devils uniform, we need a RW and he's a RW and he plays Devils hockey, he would be a perfect fit here.

I'd love to see him here too, but I think he is a Flames lifer.

Greene is our most versatile DMan. if we had to pick a #1, it'd be him

no way is he the most easily replaced.

Agreed. Greene is as close to untouchable as it gets for our defencemen. The only who has more value is Larsson, and maybe Fayne. Tallinder and Volchenkov are the most expendable, for differing reasons.

I think he`s a "reverse" Bourque and will join the Bruins before the deadline.

Just a hunch.

This would be my ideal scenario. I`m a big fan of his, been talkin about a possible trade for him for years.

Kulemin would play in the top6, no doubt in my mind.

Never really paid much attention to Kulemin. After watching a bunch of goals he scores A LOT by being infront of the net off rebounds. Something a former Devil did a lot also. I wouldnt mind having a guy like him. He goes right to the front of the net once in the zone all the time. He has a pretty good wrister too.

Would be a nice addition but for some reason dont see it happening.

I suggested that yesterday wondering if his NTC is void after he used it in Minny

and assuming they trade Iginla, wonder what kind of return that would fetch.

And I hope our broke owner found some cash in his sofa or a friend with deeper pockets so we can add a nice piece or two during UFA time.

Look around the league, every team seems to be picking up scraps, no one looking to give up a roster player at the moment. May have to wait for several more games.

Agree, not really liking that because it probably means sitting larsson for a while yet if there aren't any changes to the lineup.

i think with the shortened season, the panic button wont be pressed for another week or so w/ some GM's. maybe 2 weeks

Anyone think Zidlicky is the most tradable D-man right now since he's in the last year of his contract?

Some solid reasoning for trading Zid's.

1)Team's who are over the cap will like the expiring contract.
2)Dev's are under the cap and thus can absorb a contract.
3)we have a glut at D now, but u don't want to trade a couple guys and then have another leave via FA after the season. That glut can turn into a void pretty quick.

So yeah, I can see your point.

Zidlicky is our best offensive defensemen and was a key to our improved breakout game last playoffs.

No need to trade him.

I feel like the Devils glut at defenseman is about 9-11 players deep when looking at next season.

Salvador
Volchenkov
Larsson
Greene
Tallinder
Fayne

6 NHL guys returning

Zidlicky
Harrold

2 NHL Free Agents to be

Gelinas
Urbom
Merill

3 prospects who can probably push for NHL jobs.

So, for me, the Devils don't have much to worry about when it comes to having enough defenseman for next season.
