Clowe's agent just doin his job. Clowe want's a 4 or 5 year deal, so you have your agent ask for 6-7 year deal and hope to meet in the middle. Thus getting the years you wanted.

also, noone here believes if we trade for clowe that bouchard wouldnt being going back? he would have to, but not only just that, they have been saying for awhile this season they need more speed and PMB will have to negotiate a deal after this year, so no risk involved for the sharks. i wouldn't be surprised if a base starting deal around PMB for Clowe happened.

Heatley Cullen Setoguchi
Clowe Brodziak Clutterbuck

bench heater if he doesn't perform, and call up zucker to replace him.

Why would we want a slow "powerforward" who has been absolutely garbage this year.

Heatley back to San Jose for Clowe +?

exactly why i said if a deal were to happen, PMB would have to go back. We know they won't take heatley back, and we aren't trying to move anyone else and imo wouldnt make sense to trade defense depth (scandy, falk, prosser) for a possible foward upgrade.

this is just my opinion, im comfortable getting rid of PMB and a mediocre prospect or low pick if we are going to make playoffs, His EXP is worth it.

He ain't Heatley-slow....and he hasn't been "garbage" either, a little snake-bitten is more like it.

I've always had a soft spot for Ryan Clowe, love big power forwards in general. Having basically another Rupp (but with a lot more skill) in our top-9 would be great, I think. And, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't he a right-handed shot? He would replace Brodziak on the top PP unit, and that alone is a huge upgrade for the team.

I am worried, however, that we are going to give him a silly contract if we bring him here, and then we'll have another Mark Parrish on our hands in a couple of years.

EDIT: Nevermind, he is a left shot.

I don't see Fletcher giving him a deal for anything longer than 4 years...

If we get Clowe, Clutterbuck is FINALLY gone this summer at the latest. Can't happen soon enough.

I personally would rather see Fletcher go all in on a Jagr (wouldn't cost too much)

Might not mean a whole lot, but I'm bored and can't sleep.. here are Clowe's stats for the past few years...Look at his career shooting % in the last column:

2006-2007 Sharks 58 16 18 34 4 78 4 0 3 93 17.2
2007-2008 Sharks 15 3 5 8 -1 22 2 0 0 22 13.6
2008-2009 Sharks 71 22 30 52 8 51 11 0 1 161 13.7
2009-2010 Sharks 82 19 38 57 0 131 2 0 2 189 10.1
2010-2011 Sharks 75 24 38 62 13 100 5 0 2 185 13.0
2011-2012 Sharks 76 17 28 45 -5 97 4 0 2 180 9.4
2012-2013 Sharks 28 0 11 11 -4 79 0 0 0 65 0.0
NHL TOTALS 423 101 170 271 13 567 28 0 10 909 11.1%

Now compare that to Setoguchi

2008-2009 Sharks 81 31 34 65 16 25 11 0 3 246 12.6
2009-2010 Sharks 70 20 16 36 0 19 8 0 4 165 12.1
2010-2011 Sharks 72 22 19 41 -2 37 4 0 5 199 11.1
2011-2012 Wild 69 19 17 36 -17 28 7 0 2 174 10.9
2012-2013 Wild 35 12 11 23 8 18 4 0 2 75 16.0
NHL TOTALS 371 115 103 218 11 135 37 0 18 964 11.9%

Parise's shooting % is also in that 11% range, Getzlaf as well. This shows me that Clowe does have a scoring touch....just been a little snakebit as of late.

No new news on the Ryane Clowe front. All I can tell you is the Wild is very much involved in trade talks, but it all has to do with the price to get him and how much an extension will cost. The Wild will not give up its blue-chippers, but it does have plenty of other prospects it may be willing to part with if you can get Clowe extended on a sensible contract. I’m not sure the contract he’s looking for would be considered sensible though.

I’ll also be interested to see if tonight was Pierre-Marc Bouchard’s last game with the Wild or if Fletcher looks for another top-4 defenseman.

I haven't watched him much, would you say hes more Koivu slow?

Cap space has to be the biggest issue, as of now it looks like Brodin could get a big jump in pay early.

The young forwards shouldn't command as much right away but an offer sheet to one of them could put some pressure on the team.

Brett Bulmer + Graovic's rights + 2nd for Ryan Clowe

Bulmer is redundant, Graovic is log-jammed and the 2nd is a solid piece in a solid draft.

I'm so tired of the talk from post game to now on the radio about how we need to go get another Centermen if Cullen is out. This team needs to fix the defense, STAT if they plan on making a deep run in the playoffs. Talk about atrocious

Unless they are fitness nutz, power forwards drop off quick as they get older. Their slow speed drops even slower. They don't win as many battles. They aren't as physical anymore.

Clowe was already a very streaky player. He might have 6 more good seasons, or he might have 2 before he's never in the play anymore.

I am not really willing to give up Coyle/Granlund/Zucker/Larsson for that. Maybe for Clutterbuck+a tier 2 prospect, but that's about it.

yup. can clowe play D?

are you ****ing crazy? only way we'd give up clutter is if we weren't planning on bringing him back, and we wouldn't add to get clowe I hope.

Thing is, I think GMCF wants Clowe and Clutter on the same line to bang the boards left and right. What is the point of dropping one offensively snakebitten player for another equally terrible offensive player?

I would find it funny to see the rage from people of CC is traded though. A lot of those jerseys at the games in comparison to almost everyone else I swear lol

Doing Nothing
Tonight is exactly the kind of game you need a Ryan Clowe though for, don't like seeing the Wild get pushed around by the bigger Blues team and Bouchard against teams like this just dissapears again. Would still very much like to dump Bouchard for anything.

That's how I felt. Butch is not cut out for this conference. He won't be able to rack up points against Colorado and Edmonton in the playoffs.

What worries me is Clowe looking for 5x$5m...no thanks. I'd say 4x$4m would be my limit. Mostly based on his play this year. Too bad there are no performance bonuses in the NHL.
