Possible Replacements for the upcoming Managerial Overhaul

New ownership.

Putting Gillis, Gilman, Henning back to work. Gillis do negotiations, Gilman does the numbers, Benning go scout full time, and Henning do whatever he did before.

I think it's time to seriously consider Benning, Willie D, and Linden are here forever.

My opinion on the matter is very simple: greed. Aquaman ultimately wants the team to make him money - prospects, exciting team, cup...etc, all of this points to one ultimate goal: money.

Right now, demand for ticket and people caring about the team are both taking a nosedive with no end in sight. If Aquaman is a business man, he will respond to this sooner or later.I do not think he's a complete moron, if he did not know before he should know by now that the unholy trio of Willie Linden and Benning are turning the team into a national joke. It's like a dude who brags about his pain tolerance having a knife very slowly stabbed into his neck. Either you do something to stop it, or pretend to be a big shot tanking the pain then bleed to death when your jugular vein gets cut.

Henning was the guy keeping tabs on Utica and that's something that desperately is needed again since we've been draining the farm team dry of veterans that should be on the farm. Granted drafting needs to be improved here too, but it's a down the ladder situation.

President - Mike Gillis. The vision he displayed identifying and pitching rebuild a few seasons back was on point. Think he has the smarts to think outside the box/ahead of the curve and give the team a competitive advantage. Would be ok with Don Maloney as well.

General Manager - Kyle Dubas. Leafs are grooming him for their future GM, but would love to poach him away. Would also be happy with Futa or Paul Fenton.

Head Coach - Any coach with a strong track record of helping younger players develop at the NHL level.

I'd be pretty shocked if Gillis/Gilman came back. Also, just no to Ray Ferraro in any capacity. Not that I disrespect his hockey mind, but the guy is just an analyst, and really he's only an okay one at that. He only sounds sane because he's the only media person in Vancouver that calls out the mess of our current regime.

Count me in the Don Maloney camp. I don't know enough about Julien Brisebois, and he sounds good, but I'd think I'd prefer an experienced GM in place for the upcoming rebuild.

Mike Gillis: I would be absolutely fine with bringing him back in any role (including GM), but I have doubts about a lot of fans and media in this city being happy with that. I think he would do well in the president role again and it wouldn't ruffle the feathers of the media too much. However, I don't know if he would accept working under Aquilini again, or if he even wants to work in Vancouver again.

Don Maloney: Another guy I would be happy with in either the president or GM role. He's experienced and did a pretty darn good job with the Coyotes considering the resources he had available.

Julien BriseBois: A younger guy with no NHL GM experience, but has been fantastic with Tampa in many areas as AGM. I would bring him in as GM if we had a more veteran/experienced guy as president/AGM to help when needed

Laurence Gilman: I would be okay with hiring him as GM, he was great with contracts and cap space, though his abilities in some other areas are somewhat unknown to the public. I would be very happy to bring him back as AGM.

Dale Tallon: I would be okay with him because just about anything is an upgrade on what we currently have. However, I have doubts about him wanting to come here considering the ownership meddling he has dealt with in Florida.

There's also guys like Fenton, Futa, and Dubas, but I don't see them leaving their respective teams for various reasons.

As for the head coaching position, no one really stands out to me right now (that I think would be available). More coaches will be fired by the end of the season, so I'm sure I'll have a stronger opinion by then. I'm fine with using Jarvis as an interim head coach and keeping Green in Utica this season.

Did I hear somewhere that Gillis recently told a Vancouver reporter to @#$# off when they contacted him?....seems he hasn't lost his touch with the media.

Should the fans chant " hire gillis " now???

I highly highly doubt gillis would come back.. But stranger things have happened. People get re hired by sports teams all the time. Randy Carlyle for example.

Linden and gillis know each other.

Are gillis and Francesco amicable? Who knows

I would welcome mike gillis back with open arms.

Maloney would be an interesting addition to this team. He ran the coyotes with a limited budget and was good.

I'd be all for it.

This.

It comes down to money, and the writing can't get any clearer, people are upset with the direction of this team. They are showing it with their wallets, this hurts.

I like many would love to see Gillis and Gilman, but I don't see it happening.

Would love to bring Crawford back as an AGM, liked his eye for talent.

Maloney would be a decent choice, but I think it is about having the right mix. the right voices, with the best blend of skills to come together.

He's under contract and not part of the team. As a professional he really shouldn't be saying much, double while he has a contract. The only reason the media would be trying to contact him is to try create some **** storm is "ha ha! I told you so!" quotes. Not surprising if he told them to **** off.

I think the story was he was reached out to someone who wrote something disparaging his time here and told him next time he saw him, he'd tell him to "do something anatomically impossible".

That was horribly written but you get it :)

Let me start by saying I'm not sold on firing Benning. Yes he needs to improve w. Asset management and trading and signing but his restocking of our prospect pool has Me on the fence about letting him go. Im also not convinced that he has full say in hockey ops without directives from ownership.

I am however 100% on board with firing Linden and Willie D.

So my question is , who are the top names and candidates out there for an imminent job opening at President of hockey ops and Head Coach...and possibly GM

Let's stay away from the obvious which is Travis green for HC .. thanks !

President - name here
General Manager - name here
Head Coach - name here

With our basement dwelling and the number of expiring UFA's the past few years the fact that our prospect pool isn't deeper is an indictment of the stupidity of Benning, look how many draft picks he's traded away (and unlike Gillis' time there's no excuse of "going for it"), look at the players we could have drafted (and many called for at the time), look at the lost value in trades and the missed opportunities in off-loading UFA's for picks...considering where our prospect pool could be/should have been with decent management and our prospect pipeline isn't something to be proud of.

President: Laurence Gilman / Dale Tallon / Paul Fenton
GM: Julien BriseBois
Coach: Hans Wallson to go out on a limb of something different, otherwise Crawford might be interesting, Bruce Boudreau and Mike Yeo round out my list.
