 ....and people say he doesn't care.
There's no doubt that he cares. It's that he doesn't know how to care in a healthy way. He lets it eat him, rather than drive him. He tied how much he cares in with his ego, which is enormously insecure. He cares so much, but he wilts under the pressure of it all. Honestly, he'd be better if he cared just a little less. The passion will one day become a strength for him, but for now it's killing him and the real question is if he can learn to handle it here. For my money, I don't think he can, I think he needs to go somewhere where he cares just a little less so he can learn to carry the burden rather than drop it.

He's on this wild Quixotic journey to becoming a man and a true hockey player™, and the problem is that our team is riding the roller coaster with him.

Same coach and same core can not be brought back. Sure, go ahead and improve the D, but it has not been the issue. The issue is the offence drying up in crucial games. And Keefe has no answers how to get things going or how to get to hot goalies. Look at what Vegas is doing. Cassidy was available last year but dumbass thought Keefe could be the next Trotz or whatever. If BT now brings back the core and the coach, i won’t have any confidence that 2024 won't be same old same old.

As for Keefe, I can't see why we're holding on to him. Outcoached every series, coddling players who need to be driven, and just terribly weak leadership.

Without a significant retool, I think we're going to have a horrid start to the year. The pressure is going to be too high on these guys if they're just running it back. Cup or bust from September on just isn't a recipe for a successful hockey team, especially one that effectively hasn't won squat. Fire the coach, trade a core piece or two, or else we're going to be 10th in the conference come December.

Bring on Roy.

If nothing else it would make for some great headlines during the season and who knows, maybe he's nuclear meltdowns would inject a much-needed pulse into this group come playoff time.
I bet leaf admin have taken a course on email etiquette and cant use capitals or the color red

Patrick roy is a pipe dream. He would be a life size elmo and always talking in capitals letters

More likely they mutiny like they did with Babcock, just sooner.

Can't believe we have another 4 months of this before hockey again. At least the draft and UFA week will bring some fun but man. This is going to be a long offseason

July 1st and we'll hear Matthews switch from always Leaf to, let's see at the end of this season (Kyle Dubas style).

On the bright side, this is the shortest offseason in 20 years and we already changed GM.

Historically entertaining intermission :DD.

Can't wait for the draft when we pick 28th and then we wait. Dubas took away all the fun the draft used to be for 2 more playoff wins. Now we watch other teams picking all the studs and grovel.

Perhaps the new GM acquires some picks?

IMO, this looks to be the most interesting off season in a long time. I don't really pay attention to the draft though.

Kirk Muller is a name that makes a lot of sense. CGY assistant coach, so you got the Treliving connection there. His name has been rumored in other coaching gigs recently. Well respected player in his day and someone with a lengthy coaching career. I could see him as a Bruce Cassidy like story. First crack at the can was unsuccessful and then gets back into head coaching at the highest level again for round 2 and succeeds.

Couple other names I could see being considered are:

John Stevens. Assistant coach in Vegas. Tons of coaching experience in the NHL, including multiple stints as head coach. Won 2 cups as an Assistant in LA under Daryl Sutter, took the Flyers to the conference finals. Also won a Calder Cup as head coach of the Phantoms. AHL affiliate to the Flyers

Steve Ott. Seems to be progressing well as an assistant over the past 6 seasons. He will be an NHL head coach at some time, could be a guy who demands a certain level of intensity that he once played with.

Joel Quenville. This would be my choice if it were up to me. Clearly the best candidate available IMO. The resume speaks for itself. Highly competitive personality who clearly knows how to motivate. I think if the league reinstates him, he needs to be our target. Players love playing for Q, and he knows how to get the most out of them as well. I don't know if Rogers and/or Bell have the stones to make this happen, but I do think he is a worthy reclamation project if he shows accountability for his actions/inactions. If the league deems him fit to coach in the NHL again, we don't need to employ a moral compass that is harsher than that judgment. But that is just my opinion on the matter.

Treliving has lots of pending UFAs to deal with along with Sammy. He could make a splash at the draft by trading a core player. I used to pay attention to the draft until Kyle took over and started drafting smurf after smurf.

It would be pretty funny if Brendan Shanahan and co. hired Patrick Wah.
why would St. Patrick even consider the offer, like him or hate him the guy's a winner, Leafs.......not so much...........

This being the year of drama maybe they keep Keefe, unextended, and bring in Gallant and Coach Q as assistants.
why would they extend him? "Here's a season, earn your next contract" that's what I'd say not that I want him back..........
