Would you be happy if the NYR swapped Kravtsov for Dylan Strome?

If you had said Meier maybe, but Leblanc? The defender? Or do you mean Labanc? Either way, Kevin Labanc if that is who you were referring to, also doesn't have close to the upside we should be looking at.

Meier would be a different story. While I still am not sure Meier will be good enough at least he does have the potential to be a physical top 6 player and is only 24.

Lablanc. RH shot can slot in at either wing, can play both sides of the puck. 39 assists one season and can play Pp. He can play

I floated this idea around before but simply put, unless Dylan Strome is some PK savant I didn't know about, he doesn't have a spot to play on this roster.
And even if he was, we can put him on wing over Hunt but is Dylan Strome on the 4th line really but is that what this team is missing? Are we trading Kravtsov for a 4th liner?
I think we wait for a better deal. I'd trade him for two 2nds or a 1st.

Yes,
we do not have impending cap issue there is ZERO basis for them to not wait so as to avoid giving away a 9OA selection
2ish wks once rosters settle which is only now starting is not too long to wait

I seriously don't think 2 weeks is going to drastically alter his value. Teams know he wants out and know the team told him to make calls. So the organization loses a ton of leverage.

I know Eichel is a different case, but it's been months and his vaue continues to diminish because the situation is out in the open and the Sabres have so little leverage.

It would take probably an entire season, until next offseason, or next years draft possibly, for his value to gain anything. And I seriously doubt Drury waits that long.

A few people have stated this but I don't agree or even understand at all. Unfortunately, the problem is that D. Strome would fit directly into our top 9 and be an upgrade. Which is why I fear Drury might do something like that.

Pretty simple, who's keeping Dylan out of the top 9? Goodrow? Gauthier? Blais? No way. Those are ideally 4th line players.

Strome as much as I dislike him, is at least a legit middle 6 player.

It's really easy. Either he slots in at 2C moving Ryan Strome to 2RW, or Dylan slots in on Ryan's wing at 2RW.

or

Dylan slots in at 3C, pushing Chytil to 3RW, or Chytil stays at 3C and Dylan plays at 3Rw, serving as the faceoff winger that Chytil badly needs if they keep him at center. At least for the time being until he improves at faceoffs.

And regardless, and unfortunately, Dylan would give us a better lineup than we currently have. Especially without Kravtsov. Without Krav, there is plenty of room for Dylan Strome.

Blais is a decent player but he's not ideal for the top 9. Goodrow has almost zero offensive game and is an ideal 4th liner. Gauthier, a good depth player or maybe 4th liner. Or at least someone you can slip into the 3rd line if need be. But not on par with Dylan, Chytil or whichever of Laf or Kreider could play at 3LW. And Hunt well, really, who cares about Hunt, he's pure depth.

Drury seems obsessed with gritty depth players. And he went way overboard this summer. We did not need all of Goodrow, Reeves, Blais and Hunt. Especially with Barron waiting in the wings. In reality, we only needed 2 of those 4, ideally 4th line players. But now we are stuck with 4 of them having to play one on the 3rd line, which isn't a good thing. And we would still likely need to keep 1 of them on the 3rd line anyway, even with Dylan.

Ideally, Drury should have brought in a middle 6 center either way. But with Kravtsov, we could get away without it. Now without Krav, we probably can't.

Does anyone really want to see Goodrow on the 3rd line? Gauthier? Once Ryan is healthy, does anyone really like a 3rd line of Goodrow-Chytil-Gauthier? Absolutely putrid. This isn't 1988 where our 3rd line is a "checking" line. We need our 3rd line to contribute offensively and that 3rd line would contribute almost nothing. In fact, I think it would only hurt Chytil's progress long term.

Laf - Zib - Kreider (or Laf - Zib - Kakko) or (Laf - Zib - R. Strome)
Panarin - R.Strome - Kakko (or Panarin - D. Strome - R. Strome) or (Panarin - R. Strome - Chytil)
Blais - Chytil - D. Strome (or Blais - D. Strome - Chytil) or (Kreider - D. Strome - Gauthier)

Anyway you look at it, any of these options, again unfortunately are better than putting out a 3rd line of Goodrow - Chytil - Gauthier or even Blais - Chytil - Gauthier or Blais - Chytil - Goodrow.
Gauthier - Strome - Chytil (or

perhaps I was not clear, if so, my apologies.

I said 2 ish wks "once rosters settle", which is itself 2-3 wks or so from now.

So ballpark I am looking at 5 wks.
Again 2-3 wks to create a spot
2-3 wks to call him up and K plays

That is huge.
That is the dif betw a player
who understandably feels screwed over and sees no light at the end of the tunnel and so he refuses to report
as opposed to
a guy who is on the NHL roster and now knows he only has to keep that slot and improve his line combos.

That's the dif betw a guy who truly wants out
as opposed to
a guy who wants a gig somewhere, anywhere.

Once K demonstrates ballpark what his level or production is, which is presumed to be high based on his talent and draft slotting, THAT will be principal factor in what is his price.

Nothing against DS or his brother.
We do not want to add another vet with salary.
Counterproductive to extending Fox long term and what options we have for Kakko + LaF after this season.

Either a C prospect NHL ready/near NHL ready or a team willing to fork over a 1

offers for a 2nd will be there at the draft. No sense in taking that now.

Would Detroit be willing to talk Velano?

If Dylan Strome skates in mud like his brother then he's not a good match for the Rangers. Especially if you want him on the Panarin line. He needs to be quick enough to be first man in and first man back.
