I don't disagree with you. Our GM probably loves the dude.

But what exactly do you think Bednar is going to do if he's plopped down into the mix? Yeah, that's right, he'll put him on the fourth line, maybe move him up to the third but the moment he hits a guy and gets a penalty for being agressive he'll be banished to the 4th line and less than 6:30 a night just like every other player that is capable of playing the body. Bednar HATES these players.

I'm not really sure what is going on, but my best take is that Bednar is psychologicaly blind to the fact that he is projecting his own unworthiness to play in the NHL on all players that have grit as a hallmark. He has some basic ingrained mistrust or animosity towards them. There is absolutely no other excuse for cutting nuts off every bull and benching every player who displays an edge.

Honestly though, this is not unique to Bednar. The Avs effectively made Darius Kasperitis a eunuch as well.

I was so excited at the time when Kasparaitis was acquired , Avs needed that kind of hitting . But he got here and was so useless , physically .

I'm not sure I agree with this. Bednar got a lot of success last season with the Roaring Twenties line playing in a way completely different to the first line and gave them a decent amount of ice time. The Kivi-Kelly-LOC this season gets a lot of trust too, and I don't think he's asking them to play like the first line. He just wants a hard (but not heavy), defensively responsible game out of the bottom 6. It was no different during the Cup except that there were other players on those lines.

Omg me too, I watched a lot of Pittsburgh games. They just played a modern game in that era. I'm still not sure I've ever seen a team in this era pass like the Pittsburgh teams could.

It was impressive, like watching a laser show, but it didn't always yield results.

Then you had that nightmare running people over.

Might as well say f*** it and trade for EP 40 and take on a huge gamble. Might be the only thing to help save this season and shitty depth scoring. I'm sure he could atleast be a 70 point 2C behind Mack and would have a bit of resurgence

I agree he did have success with that. Why isn't he now?

At some point, people are going to have to confront the fact that Bednar is simply out of answers here. I'm not sure how many NHL players are going to have to be brought in before folks realize that if they aren't top line or top pairing Bednar gives no shits about them. Maybe once he ruins everythign Drury brings to the table, but then again... Folks will just say, he was good when he got here (much like Ross and Miles) the player must have just quit. Every single f***ing player CMac brings in to play hockey for us just automatically sucks the moment they get here and aren't worth the time of day.

There is an absolutely major problem with the Avs. I only wished Mitts was the biggest one.

Those first three words are all you need to know about why he would be persona non-grata with Bednar.

Name me one player he likes to see hit people. I'll be god-damned if he names a player on our roster.

That f***in line was nothing special. They did what Bednar wants, play well defensively, get the puck into the Ozone.

It wasn't like they were shutting down top six lines, and scoring.

I'm tired of hearing about it. For me Colton has NEVER ran a line on both sides of the puck.

What drove me nuts then? Zero scoring, zero play making.

Colton isn't a f***in center. Sometimes Bednar is right.

Well, no, the Flyers aren't going to be getting a top-10 pick this year because if it does become top-10 the Avs can make the selection then defer the pick to 2026 and the odds of this team finishing bottom 10 back to back years are slim to none.

Sometimes I wonder if Colton is real or just the ghost on Jason Aarnson haunting us forever.

Trading for a more expensive Mittelstadt 2.0 is not a good idea.... Not at all....
