Your forum's mod started a pre-series thread earlier today, and Leaf fans are the overconfident ones?

This comment doesn't make any sense.

What does creating a thread to discuss a likely playoff matchup have to do with being overconfident about how good your team is?

Can you or the two people who liked your post explain how it isn't nonsensical???

Leaf fans are no more overconfident than the rest.

This comment also doesn't make sense as a response to the one you quoted...

Why do you quote someone and then go on to say something that has nothing to do with what the person you quoted said...

The Senators have played one more game than the Leafs, but have allowed five less goals.

If the Leafs are "a lot better" at limiting high danger chances, that must mean that the Senators have significantly better goaltending than the Maple Leafs, right?

Leafs v Sens I will be hoping the Leafs lose, but expecting they will roll through in 4 or 5. They will clamp it down into a mature structure in a way the Sens can’t.

You didn't answer his question...

If the Leafs are better at limiting high danger chance against, but have more goals against, does this mean the sens have the better goaltending?

It's a yes or no. If your answer is no, explain the logic.

Their best players need to actually step up, find another gear, and battle in the dirty areas of the ice. If they don't, nobody will be surprised and it'll be another repeat of past disappointments. Other fans can throw as many darts as they please, it'll pale to the criticisms levied at this team by their own fans.

But as skeptical as I am, I see no fun in being pessimistic about sports, and I love playoff hockey. So I'll watch every game and just hope they find their groove.

Watch the Leafs clamp it down and that answers the question. Goaltending is (most often) a product of team play. Leafs in 4 or 5.

I didn't hear a yes or no.

You're completely avoiding the question. Do we have to ask it a third time?

"If the Leafs are better at preventing high danger scoring chances but allow more goals against, does this mean Ottawa has better goaltending?"

YES or NO??

Wrong again lol, I guess the lesson is when betting, take the opposite.
An impeccable track record of being wrong. Or trying to push false narratives. I am not sure who he is trying to convince/fool. Leafs are the clear favorites, they should win but thats why you play the games. They certainly have all the pressure on them. Sens have nothing to lose here. Cant wait to see the battle of Ontario again its been way too long an its great for the sport.

If the Senators players are thinking this way they are going to be completely shell shocked. Like won't know what hits them.
Yeah what a proven juggernaut these leafs are. I am sure you have a way better handle on their mentality than these professional athletes.

I am not even sure why they are playing the games at this point. The sens should probably just give up, as they have no shot.

How many goalies do teams play during the regular season? Then, of those goalies, which is the one to carry the load in the playoffs? The question isn’t a yes or no answer because there are many layers to the answer. Ulmark is very good. I hope he stands on his head because I think he will need to.

The Matthews, Marner, and Knies line are going to have a tough time with Amadio, Pinto, and Grieg + Sanderson and Zub on the backend. The Senators have a legitimate 5v5 shutdown unit that could be a difference maker in a series. I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in the playoffs.

sorry, is there a yes or no in there? Or are you implying that forsberg Is better than the Leafs backup?

I'm still looking for a yes or no.

Leafs don't have a "backup goalie". They have 2 goalies who won 20+ games and will probably both get starts in the first round series.

Which might be a disadvantage. It's rare a team wins going back and forth between goalies. Usually if one plays really well, you don't take him out.

To use EA to simplify my explanation...I think having two 85 overalls instead of a 90 and an 80 is more advantageous during the regular season, which is why you rarely see starters play 70 games anymore...however I think having the go to guy in a playoff situation is still the preferred choice.

I would imagine the Leafs are going to be chasing a Matthews-Stutzle matchup pretty hard as well. I think the main thing the series will come down to the Leafs penalty killing...and the Sens even strength scoring. Goals could be hard to come by in the series I would think.

The only Sens fans that think it's house money weren't old enough to remember the battle of Ontario OR they're just trying to cope.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, no one wants to lose a rivalry serious(Bruins vs Habs, Leafs vs Habs, Sens vs Leafs etc).
That's not what playing with house money means.

Keys to series for both teams IMHO

If the Sens can play chaotic and scrambly, I can totally see them throwing the Leafs off their game. I don't know why, but there's something about this Leafs team where I feel they thrive against predictable/uniform styles, but anything that deviates from that throws them for a loop lol.

The Leafs key to success is hoping picking Stolarz over Woll is the right move and try to contain Ottawa's speed, I do think the Sens are noticeably faster than the Leafs.

If the Leafs lost to the Sens, it will be HF mayhem.

In any event, Leafs-Sens brings me back to the early 00s when they had some wars that the Leafs always seemed to win despite having the inferior team, on paper. Those were some fun series.
