It's 2025 and we still haven't learned that regular season means jack squat in the playoffs? For shame....
I remember in the early 2000's Ottawa DOMINATED Toronto in the regular season but for the life of them couldn't beat Toronto in the playoffs. Even when was Ottawa the #1 seed and Toronto was the #8 Toronto still beat them in the playoffs

The one year Ottawa didnt play Toronto I think they went to the Stanley Cup finals

They also lost in the conference final, game 7, in the last minute or 2 to NJ.

They also lost in game 7 conference final double OT, to Pittsburgh.

Toronto would destroy Ottawa. That's an ideal matchup for them - less experienced team, no elite talent, no depth, advantage of playing 7 home games, Ullmark is totally unreliable in the playoffs.

The Habs would probably beat them.

0 reason they shouldn't. They are the better, more experienced team no matter if they face Habs or Sens. I'll take either team in the first round. Should expect high energy from those teams but that will wear off as the series goes on.

I have them in the ECF at a minimum. Would be mind boggling to not make it that far.
How u lose faith so quick in demidov

Toronto was the higher seed 3 out of 4 times, but yes, the one time it was the other way around, Toronto swept Ottawa.

Ottawa did reach Game 7 of the ECFs in 2003 only to lose to NJ, and made the SCF in 2007 only to lose to ANA.

Since around then, Toronto had their drought and then Ottawa had theirs.

This might be a lot for you to learn in one go but I will give it a shot anyways...the fans don't decide what happens with the team they cheer for.
Not insinuating that by any means. But whenever the Leafs have lost the last 7 years, with the same group, this message board is filled with "run it back" messaging. Its more for the fans - will your mentality change?

I mean I have been pretty firm that when they lost to Montreal in 21' large changes should have been made like right away. It didn't happen. End of the day I am a fan of the team and push come to shove...if they are going to run it back I will hope "this year will be different" even if it likely won't be.

If they stay healthy, they could go to the finals. On paper, they certainly have one of the best team out there. Mentally, i'm less convinced.

One thing i'm sure of, other teams will play a physical game against them

I don't believe in Toronto's core until they give me a reason to.

They have the talent to get it done against most teams in the league. But they've come up short so many times, even against teams they should have beat on paper.

It actually makes zero sense that they didn’t make changes after that lol that was embarrassing

I could see them losing to Tampa in the second round, but I don't think either Ottawa or Florida can eliminate them in the first round.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them reach the Finals if they beat Tampa. I have no faith in any of the Metro teams.

I think you are wildly understating Tanev and McCabe.

I think you are underestimating Zub and Jensen. When healthy, Ottawa top 4 has been really good. Sanderson is the best D-man on either team by a pretty large margin.

Matinpalo & Kleven have been OK in there role.

The only problem with Ottawa's D is that when they aren't healthy, Hamonic plays in the top 4 and he a is dumpster fire.

Both McCabe and Tanev are better than Zub and Jenson.
