Wow, what a concept! You're allowed to cheer for whoever you want and it's more than ok in this thread, no one has even complained that people are cheering against Canada!

Wish people would realize that's what the fans in Vancouver were doing as well.

Good thing it wasn't in Montreal we boo everyone. ;)

I'd have to say neither. Nothing personal, but maybe it is, I'd have a hard time cheering for the team which it's fans were constantly riding my team to the point of ridiculous.

This wasn't a result of Johnson, it was something much deeper and more personal which started before that team even stepped foot on that ice. I have always wanted either of the N. American teams to win over any other non N. American team but the bad taste in my mouth won't allow for that this year and who knows how long before I feel that way again.

I didn't mean to start another locked-up thread regarding this and I'm hoping that people can just discuss this like adults and not some clueless rambling...well, you know.

Best of luck to both teams as they earned and deserve the right to play for the gold but you lost one who would've supported you Canada.
I have to say that this is very disappointing. As a Canadian you have to know that the Boo's of some people in Vancouver does not reflect on everyone living in Canada. If the states were in the final I would be cheering for them but...after what happened in Vancouver, I don't blame you guys, it upset me as well. Without getting political, I just hope that sports wise or whatever, the anti American propiganda stops and our two countries can become friendlier neighbors in the future. Good luck!

After the "warm greeting" the US got in Vancouver, I think I'll have to go with Russia on this one.

I just wonder who the fans in the seats will be cheering for given how loudly they just cheered for Russia the night before. :sarcasm:

Count me as another person that feels this way. Normally I'd have absolutely no problem supporting Canada once the US is eliminated, but the actions of the fans in Vancouver have left an absolutely bitter taste in my mouth. I've honestly never seen a reaction like I've seen the American team faced this year in any international tournament before.

Canada.

Because i like commies less than i like people who say "eh?"

Yep.....we voted Tommy Douglas as the 'greatest Canadian' ever....doesn't say much about Canada that is for sure!!

Give me Bobby Orr anyday!!! :yo:

I am an American definitely cheering for Canada.

Of course I'm also an American who roots for Canada against the U.S. every time they play each other.

Go Canada!!!

Well, as a Albertan, I feel closer to the States then I do Eastern Canada, so I took the poll also and I voted for the Russians against the Vancouver fans......though as a Flyer fan, I also hope that Downie does great and in that respect, I will be pulling for Canada to a point..... :handclap:
I'm Albertan too. Unlike you though, I'd rather see Canada win than Russia.

Strange, seeing as how I'm Canadian and all.

Being a bad neighbour is one thing but being a bad Canadian is even worse.

He's one of these Albertans who hates Canada and loves America, and desperately wants George W. Bush to be his leader.

Any other year? Canada.

This year? Russia, for sure. I'd love nothing more than a lot of broken hearts from the fans who so eagerly booed the American team the entire tournament.

The only thing more Bizarre than Canadians cheering Russians is Americans cheering Russians :biglaugh:

Russia has a powerhouse for the Olympics, like they usually do. Canada doesn't stnad a chance against them.
:biglaugh: Canada? :biglaugh:
:shakehead

I'm not sure I follow this post.. Are you saying Canada doesn't stand a chance against Russia in the Olympics, or the WJC?

The latter would at least be believable by some.

I dunno...Staal and Pyatt are on Canada and as a Rangers fan i want them to do well, but I think a heartbreaker is in order after what happend at the US games. I still want it to a good game and I hope Canada doesn't get blown out TOO bad ;)

Actually thankfully he wasn't. Tommy Douglas was voted greatest Canadian.

Frederick Banting was screwed!

Quite frankly I blame the Americans stance on lumber for Bantings loss and intend to boo them next time they play hockey in my town.

I've never actually met one of those. I'm not sure I'd like to.

Im Canadian so I didn't vote, but I didn't think very highly of the Vancouver fans reception to the US team.

It was made worse by the sense there was more enthusiasm for booing the US than cheering for the Canadian team when they were on the ice.

Russia ... I have zero respect left for Hockey Canada after they named Bertuzzi to the Olympic team.

Do you have any left for Team USA with naming Jack Johnson and GARY Suter?
