I never understood these theory...wouldn't the league benefit greatly from a Canadian team winning the cup? Or am I wrong

The loss of Ekholm all playoffs really decreases our chances imo. Hopefully his absence is not season ending and he can play in later series. And Stu Skinner will have to prove alot of us wrong for it to happen.

If the oilers make it to the western conference final, I can see ekholm returning and providing a big boost.

I don't really understand the few "If they could get out of the first round" answers. It's going to get way, way more difficult to beat Vegas, one of Colorado/Dallas/Winnipeg and whoever comes out of the East than LA.

I think if the Oilers find their game and STOP making it hard on themselves they got this.

But god this team absolutely can't do things the easy way.

So I have 2 concerns

1. Can they find their game with all the crap happening the last 2 month.
2. Can they stay healthy. I believe this relates to the make things hard on themselves. Every game they play has to be a slog. They never really control an outcome and I think that wears on them over time. Win a series.. take game 1 of the next one off (lost our game). They cannot afford to have this shit happen to them. Game 1 vs Vegas two years ago.. and game 1 vs Vancouver last year. Cost them the Vegas series. And cost them their health in the Vancouver series imo.

Seravalli has Oilers in 6 - figures the walking wounded will all be back other than Frederic and Ekholm who’s probably done for the season.

But he has Vegas winning the cup over I think Tampa. Or Florida. Ottawa to beat Toronto in R1 which would be great.

Wrong.

Canada is already hockey crazy. They're not bringing new fans into hockey... aka 'not growing the game'. They already have our money.


The NHL valuation benefits when Tampa Vegas and Florida win the cup because it brings brand new fans who will start paying money for the sport.
