Do the Oilers win the Cup?

I don't really understand the few "If they could get out of the first round" answers. It's going to get way, way more difficult to beat Vegas, one of Colorado/Dallas/Winnipeg and whoever comes out of the East than LA.
You're right that LA is an easier opponent than those teams.

The issue is that I among others feel that the biggest obstacle to an Oilers cup is the Oilers. If we play to our potential, no team stands much of a chance to us.

LA will benefit from the Oilers being at their weakest. By the 2nd and 3rd round Ekholm may be playing again, and our returning players would have shaken off the rust. LA has a chance to pounce on the Oilers while the Oilers aren't at their full potential.

The first round is our biggest test this year.

Yeah.
This is a pretty weak year across the board.

Every team has pretty glaring weaknesses and seem beatable.

Why not? I voted yes.. just because.

It'd be poetic if we face a cinderella team from the east where the clock strikes midnight for them.

I'd say playing Dallas & Van last year would be easier than going up against Vegas and Colorado this year.

But to be the best you have to beat the best. There's definitely not one team that I think we can't beat.

Naw. Dallas was an absolute wagon last year.

Colorado Tampa and Vegas aren't nearly as stacked as they were when they last won their cups.
They all lost quite a bit of top-end firepower, and their depth isn't what it used to be.

It also wouldn't shock me if both Vegas and Colorado get ousted in the first round.
