Ran a similar pole a few weeks ago, now that we know the matchups and our injury situation is clearer (sounds like everyone but Frederic and Ekholm back for Game 1) - do we win the Cup? Won’t be easy. But would be nice!

Not even gonna vote cuz its a coin flip. We either lose first round or go all the way.

We only go as far as goaltending takes us. If we can manage .900 plus save percentage we could really do some damage
Anything less we done first round maybe second at best and that's McDrai turning god mode like they do every other postseason

Someone mentioned Walman was not skating today. Hope he's okay, or that's going to be an even larger mountain to climb, regardless of our firepower.

I'd substitute Colorado for Winnipeg and then it's better. We still owe those f***ers from a couple years back.

Nah. Colorado was just the better team that year. What still stings about the Winnipeg sweep is that they were immediately swept themselves once the goaltending came to earth and Montreal marched to the final, so it still feels like Edmonton beat themselves as much as Winnipeg beat them in that one.

I wouldn't have been surprised at all to see that team go on a run had they held on to the lead in Game 3.

That version of the Oilers was grossly unrefined, and by the end had basically 8 players total that could be relied upon to play at all. Mike Smith was a roller coaster in net too, a disaster in Game 3.

Speaking to the "unrefined" assessment, the one play/decision that sticks out to me was Tippett throwing 97 and 29 over the boards on an early PK in Game 4 when I believe it was still 0-0. They hadn't PK'd all year, then got promptly scored on after trying to spring themselves for a break. Those types of "f*** it, let's throw some shit against the wall and see if it sticks" decisions were pervasive at that time.

I read some of the lamenting about the depth here and shake my head. Some have short memories. We can still compete and win games despite being down 7-9 regulars. Back then it would have been nearly impossible to win a game against anyone.

I mean... There's a chance we win the cup, sure but a small one. Too many injuries and bad goaltending plaguing the team this year.
