Pre-Game Talk: Pole: Dallas or Winnipeg

Who do you prefer we play in R3?

I think when Ekholm is back, it will be in full mode, pk, 2nd pp, perhaps less minutes first games. Our overall D recently has been really good.

A fit Ekholm feels like cheatcode to throw in!

I don't think Ekholm will return in a capacity that helps us as it stands. I don't think we've historically dealt well with lengthy breaks. I prefer the WCF to start as soon as possible, whatever way that happens. Either team will be a challenge and the Oilers will have to rise to it. Let's just get the games underway!

Those juggernaut Deep stars once again with 8 shots on net through half way lmao

That's odd

Jason Robertson has 0 goals. Dadonov zero. Couple other key guys zero

Rantanen 9

Thought they were crazy deep

If Edmonton was doing this, like years past, the media would be all over us calling us a one man team
Tired of the narrative that the Stars are this deep team and a contender every year. They are a good team but every year they fizzle out because their top players don't contribute enough and they get no depth scoring. Without Rantanen these playoffs they would be golfing. As you said, their other top guys are doing nothing. Dallas is slow and their playstyle is like the Kings. Game opens up they are dead in the water. That's why I think EDM matches up well with them. Speed kills.

Dallas is a fraud and I’ve been saying it since we played them last year. Ceci is a top 4 D on that team this year.

Robertson is the slowest player in the league, Benn-duchene-seguin line can’t keep up with the playoffs and Ottinger isn’t invincible

The Rantanen hype is entirely justified but its like some people think he'll continue on at 3 points-per-game... he won't. There are only two players in the world capable of doing that deep into the playoffs and they both play for us.
Rantanen had extra motivation for Colorado and the adrenaline leaked into the first few games this series that’s what I make of it

It's a tough situation... On the one hand, I want the boys to get maximum rest time. But on the other hand, I don't want them to get rusty and lose their groove.

Case in point, I think back to the Ducks / Oilers WCF from 2006. The Ducks swept the Avs in the second round and had 7 calendar days off (May 12-18) while the Oilers only had one (May 18).

I remember everyone saying that the Ducks would be rested and run the Oilers into the ground, but the Oilers smoked them in 5 games.

As it stands right now, we'd have 5 calendar days (May 15-19) without a game if the Stars win tonight. Not sure that I want our break to go anything beyond that.

If we play DAL, all Stu needs is a 900 man. DAL barely get 20 shots a game. Let in 2 max lol.

Hopefully I don’t jinx us but I just don’t see it with the stars. Rantanen, Heiskanen, Oettinger and Harley are studs but their depth isn’t as impressive as media and fans make it out to be.

So it will be Dallas again. More or less the same team plus Rantanen. They are stronger this year unless some of their older guys regressed significantly.
