Ekholm's only coming in if we start 0-2. Otherwise we're not breaking up a winning roster. Also, other than maybe Marchment I don't really see anyone on Dallas who's going to abuse our only tiny squishy (Stecher) so I'm not really in a rush to get Ekky back.

I'm not sure how the early 2010 Hawks' teams were built, but Stan may be on to something with the big hitting forechecking forwards and mobile but less hitting-oriented puck-moving backend comp

Stan definitely saved the season with the Walman and Klingberg additions. Without them we likely don't make it past LA let alone Vegas.

That pretty much sums up Stan's Chicago teams. Some great puck moving d-men (Keith, Oduya, Hjarmarlsson),and guys up front who forechecked the hell out of you.

Gentlemen--

Sorry to offer up a small distraction but the EE have opened up camp and this is looking like a promising season for the football team in Edmonton. If you love the Oilers then you know you want to see the EE rebound. I think they are set to do it.

Stop by the CFL 2025 site for a bit and let's talk some football. It's not like guys on this site are short of opinions.

Dallas. for some reason they don’t scare me. probably because edm beat them last year. Everyone talks about their depth, defense and goaltending etc. but the oil find a way to break through. Dallas anlso aren’t a big tough team who really hits. There have been quite a few games these playoffs where they got dominated and outshot 2 to 1 for much of a game. Yes they added rantanen but the jets have proven in their 2 wins if you contain him, Dallas haven’t had much else. Rantanen is carrying them big time imo. Go at them hard and they get back on their heels.

So this is probably crazy but I might try

Nurse - Ekholm
Kulak - Bouchard
Walman - Klingberg

This should theoretically give you three stable pairs assuming Ekholm can still play RD moderately well. You could literally split the ice time evenly.

Marchment has honestly been getting bullied in the Jets series. Looks injured. Constantly see him falling on his ass in any board battle.

Its Gregor so its not reality. I doubt they would have started Saturday.
The third round won't start until game 7 of the Leafs/Panthers series, which will be Sunday. Game 1 will be no earlier than Monday or Tuesday if Dallas wins game 6, no earlier than Wednesday if it goes to game 7.

TV is an inanimate object that's hanging in my living room. TV executives are individual people who make decisions, sometimes stupid ones. Or do you not see the difference?
I think it's pretty clear "TV" is used as a common metonym for what you're describing here.

He obviously doesn't think the device on his wall specifically decides playoff scheduling.

It's been pretty much family and friends watching games in the US this post season, just dismal numbers. It would go fro dismal to non-existent if it's and Oilers-Jets series. While I would prefer Dallas, part of me wants the Jets just to see how horrible the numbers in the US will be and to have Gary shit himself.
The other wrinkle for honest Gary is the Leafs are still alive and so is the nightmare scenario of 3 out of 4 conference final teams being from Canadian markets. That all-Canadian division they ran due to Covid in 2021 might become a permanent thing if that ends up happening.

Klingberg has been a revelation to say the least. I would say we re-sign. When is the last time we had defence like this?

Toronto did something I didnt thing they would be able to do, win a game with their backs to the wall. They played to win last night. They were sacrificing everything. 30 blocked shots last night for Leafs. Curious to see how many Tanev had

Doesn't matter. Dallas - Winnipeg needs to go to 7.

Toronto - Florida going 7 was good.
xtra time off for Oilers. I like it. Get the fellas rested and our injured players hopefully can get back. Having Eckholm available would be huge.
Curious what the lineup would be. Do you run 11 & 7?

I honestly don't think it really matters, I like our chances against both teams.

In saying that though, as a Oiler fan who's lived in MB my whole life I'd love to go to a white out involving Edmonton

I still think they’ll lose the series. Not so much to do with Florida who looked awful last night but because they’re the Leafs and they choke in big games. Either way that series is now going 7 games and both teams look like a MASH unit meanwhile a very well rested and lightly tested Carolina is waiting for the winner.
