The NHL is going the way of the NBA where teams in the next round start playing games before the previous round is even over. It's not "TV," as Gregor weirdly puts it. It's stupid American television executives who need to deliver their viewers to Ozempic advertisements.

That said, I feel like the Jets just have our number. Stlyistcally they might be the least ideal matchup.

I think with Dallas, we can wear them down. Kane, Frederick, Hyman, Kapanan and Podz can hammer their d-core which isn;t strong beyond their top 2 guys.

Dallas doesn't look crazy deep in the playoffs, but media says that because they did finish top 5 in goals/game in the reg season I believe. Then you add Rantanen on top. Did he play yesterday?

Kinda crazy that it doesn't matter who wins between Winnipeg or Dallas that we start on the road. What makes it every crazier is that if we win, we would get home ice advantage against either Florida or Carolina.

That group of 4 can move the puck infinitely better than the top 4 last year. The depth is scoring more because the D this playoffs have been able to move the puck up to them. Also, such a shame Stetcher, the Nurse whisperer, will have to come out.

At least Kulak is also a Nurse whisperer. This is all predicated on the ability for Ekholm to actually play Top 4 minutes.

If he can't, I'm concerned that we're going to start trying to jam square pegs into round holes leaving Nurse without one of his two safety blankets (Kulak/Stecher). If Ekholm can only handle bottom pair/special teams minutes, I don't know if we're necessarily better off. Basically would be picking between these two:

Kulak - Bouchard
Walman - Klingberg
Nurse - Stecher

Kulak - Bouchard
Nurse - Walman
Ekholm - Klingberg

If Ekholm is playing very hobbled I don't know if I don't pick option A without him. The biggest issue would be if he came in and it resulted in Nurse being married up to Bouchard again.

It's been pretty much family and friends watching games in the US this post season, just dismal numbers. It would go fro dismal to non-existent if it's and Oilers-Jets series. While I would prefer Dallas, part of me wants the Jets just to see how horrible the numbers in the US will be and to have Gary shit himself.

Yes, Stetch has been an inspiration, no doubt. Tough as nails, makes sharp plays, and keeps Nurse in check.

I noticed one play though last game, where he got absolutely blown up by a check. To his credit, he bounced back up and managed to get back in the play. If that's Ekholm that gets hit, the other guy probably bounces off of him.

I have Hellebuyck PTSD. I'm aware of what has happened afterwards but the guy swept the Oilers by himself in 2021.

To be fair this is a much different Oilers team. These are some of the guys who played in that series Koekkoek, Russell, Bear, Kahun, Shore, Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, Khaira, Haas, Ennis, Chiasson, Neal, Archibald.
