Post-Game Talk: Point taken

You know if Skinner's save percentage started with a .8 it would've been posted ad nauseam in this thread by now.

He just finished the month of January with a .921 save percentage to follow his .913 in December. He's been good for a long while now.

Got a text from a friend after the breakaway goal. The traditional “gee wiz, wish we could get a save to bail the team out when it matters.”

Right before he made many big saves when it mattered to save the team’s ass from getting nothing tonight.

You're delusional. It wasn't a great game, but it certainly wasn't garbage.

Nothing is the goalies fault, unless it's the other team, then it's on the skates for not scoring 🙄🙄
When its the other goalie making fantastic stops all game long its somehow the Oilers fault. When we give up only about half a dozen chances in a game its somehow the Oilers fault. When Skinner lets in half of the difficult stops after the other guy robs us blind its the Oilers fault. Its NEVER Skinners fault.

He wasn't even good in this game. He was almost beaten twice by 100ft shots from near center ice that took him by surprise. Luckly neither went in and the one dribbled just by the post.

I’m gonna disagree on the Mcdavid attempt being fine and it being a fantastic stop. It was a slow drag across the net and slid along the ice. It was bad.

Not excusing Skinner either btw but our two attempts were amateur hour.
The Oilers only get to shoot on Skinner in practice. Blood on the beach is all I'm saying.

Oh we’re on “almost goals” now.

Lyon let one by him that got knocked away by a teammate in the third. Does that almost goal count the other way?

Right? That's what I can't stand. The other goalie never has a good games, because if they did, they'd have to admit someone is better than their hero...

This shows you they did more then the wings In those said periods……
This reinforces just how bad this team is when it comes to finishing.

I have watched pretty much every minute of almost every game this season and I cant remember seeing any version of this team that has missed more 10 bell chances (open net or otherwise) than this version.
They just dont bear down nearly enough around the net..

One theory regarding that issue is that its possible we may not see the best version of this team until the playoffs.

Amazing to me that some have an obsession about xGA +\- when it comes to the goalie exclusively, but being horrifically under water on xGF +\-?

That’s the goalies fault too I guess.

What does that have to do with McDavid's shootout attempt? You said it was fine, and it wasn't.
Maybe our expectations are too high. flu is going around the Oilers room, several of our players are sick. Possibly McD too and he wasn't really on tonight. None of us really know what its like. But I'm sure not gonna get on the greatest player in hockey because he has some lukewarm games.

The goalie was required to make a hard stop on the post. Skinner, no way he would've made that stop tight to the post. or the one on Mcd on the wrap in regulation which is one of the best clinical wraps you will ever see. That was an amazing stop. McD was robbed.
