You guys have got to quit blaming Bob. You want Mason in there??? We need to quit deflecting pucks into our own net. The one goal went off of Savard.
Okay, but it was headed directly for his 5 hole off the shot and ended up between his 5 hole after the deflection.

He opens up way too easily and it allowed goals 3 and 4. He was exposed badly by it in the Olympics and now the book is out on him.

This team has some kind of mental block where they just flat refuse to beat the bruins, Blackhawks or penguins even when they can and should...

It's not only those teams, it's the mentality of playing with a 2 goal lead as well. They just can't do it. It's the youth and lack of experience, but man is it frustrating.

I don't blame him for he first, third goal, or fourth goal. They were all prime changes with either a break or a weird tip. The second though he needs to have, he over committed to the pass and that's why it went in five hole. He was underwhelming, and can be better, but given his playoff history it's concerning

One of the worst things about losing can be reading some of the dumb posts from the defeatists.

It was never going to be easy. CBJ didn't play their best game and still managed to be well in the game until the end. Keys were the PK, Bob, faceoffs in the third and experience. Hopefully one of their takeaways is that they know they can play with these guys even on an off night...that should be encouraging to them.

Going to game 2 Saturday. Can't wait.

The jackets offense was impotent in the 3rd. Fleury was in heaven.

Tough loss after the start. Getting Umberger and Foligno back will give us four solid lines. I thought we were pretty much a 2 line team tonight and we have to have four going to win.

Getting Boll to the booth, some offense with Anisimov and MacKenzie back with Letestu will be huge.

Jackets know what they need to do now. For the life of me, though, this team has never figured out how to hold a lead against the Penguins.

They hung with them, though, and hopefully come back strong on Saturday.

I'm more referring to the plan of attack when we get the puck into the zone.

Can anybody tell me the last time we've scored a goal with the goalie pulled? Has it ever happened under Richards?

Ha, it's just another form of power play and we all know how well that works for us (most of the time, anyway).

On top of that never working, when was the last time the Jackets scored a buzzer beater goal? Seriously, we see so many of those but they're always against us.

Last one I remember was Rick Nash's vs Dallas three years ago.

I am concerned about the fourth goal only because I've seen Bob not close the gap under his stick side (6 hole I think) quickly enough before, on that wide shot from the right side.

When is youth and experience going to stop being an excuse? Sure guys haven't played in the playoffs but outside of Murray and Jenner every other guy has played in the NHL for at least 3 years.

Bob plays like Bob,I think we win the game.

Joey a bit absent tonight. He needs to be consistent.

Once we got down I think the Jackets biggest flaw was exposed. We can't generate offensive chances like a Pittsburgh can. We rely on opportunistic situations to score; we can't consistently pass and setup guys to take good shots.

Jenner was a beast-Calvert was a pest and a half . Letestu & Mackenzie were good too. As blah mentioned most of our top guys were a bit under the radar.

In the pregame Milbury said that the Jackets if they lose have to take something away from the game that convinces them that they can win against the Pens. I think they did that.

Better Bob and hopefully we can win Saturday.

Pittsburgh took control in period 2 and managed the game well the rest of the way. It was too easy for them in the third. There has to be another gear. It's not about being a defeatist; it's watching closely what was happening on the ice.

What I am waiting for is the Jackets to show me they can play to the playoff level. Didn't see it tonight. I thought we played a great first and the rest of the game we didn't manage it all that well.

The experience of the Pens as evident.

I really think a lot of this is mental. When you play against a good team and you get ahead, you sometimes think "we shouldn't be here, how are we ahead?" It's like you're conditioned to be tied or behind. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy when the pressure cranks up.

This series to me is about breaking through the mental block which is definitely there when you've lost 6 in a row to a team and haven't beaten them in years. If the Jackets can smack these guys around and win a few games in this series, it should provide a good playoff experience as well as building confidence in the young players in future years. I don't want to watch the folding tent go out in 4 straight.

The Pens are a good team. They aren't unbeatable.

It was a tough night, lighten up Wooten...

Let me just say that I absolutely detest our penalty kill. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's the worst PK formation I've ever seen.

We don't run a box, or a diamond. It's a ****ing T shape. Why on Earth would that be a good penalty? Not only does it allow shots from the circles, but it screens Bob TWICE on shots from the point not even counting the other teams players! Whatever ******** it is, it's horrible, and we should go back to a box or a diamond. It's not that large of a change.

I agree with this, pretty much. Pens will come out Saturday thinking they took a good shot and still got the win. CBJ will have to have a better shot.
