How can you properly grade Dubas without seeing what is going to happen.
The guy is searching desperately for 1 million dollar guys to brace his team of 4 guys taking half the Cap. We have no idea how it will look.

The biggest move will be the goalie.
We have a pretty good idea how it will look. Balanced and deep on D, solid in goal, the big 4 and a bunch of scraps. The mark of a deep championship team is having guys on the lower lines that can play on the higher lines and we have none of that. Bunch of 4th liners

Well we’ve already let guys like JVR, Bozak, Gardiner and now Hyman walk for no return, why not add Rielly to the list?!
Yeah I don't get it, you knew what Hyman was going to ask for and make in free agency, and that you couldn't pay him that... So why didn't you move him a long time ago.

To me when I say C I mean he did the minimum needed to keep the team afloat in 2021-22. C isn't a good grade, it's a grade reflecting that something that had to be done got done. He got the very necessary 2nd goalie to create the usually contentious 2 starting goalie situation. HFboards are going to be sick and tired of the starting goalie debates by November. He paid premium for the defensive center and got the type of defensive center who is a proverbial black hole for offense. Don't think we've forgotten the meme culture mocking players of the lunchpail ilk of a Kampf amongst the types of fans who blindly support Dubas. I'm assuming another forward will get signed before the dust settles who will outscore all of the forwards combined signed on the first day.

Because we wanted to try and win it? Last season wasn't a time to sell off assets. Sure it would make this offseason feel better, but we also had a good chance to make a deep run. Sometimes you take a gamble, and that one didn't pay off.

So I guess we took gambles to win with JVR, Bozak, Gardiner, Hyman. Etc. This isn't the first time it's happened, seems like it's more of a trend then a gamble...

And if we didn’t keep those guys the same group of ‘we should’ve gotten something for them’ would’ve been saying ‘we never went for it, we were right there!’. F’d if you do, F’d if you don’t. But around here right now everyone has their pitchforks out for the most minor of moves.

Team is better with Hyman than without. Like it or not they aren’t rebuilding. No team in their situation would be dumping players so far ahead of them leaving.

Mrazek isn't the goalie I wanted (or even the second or third) and I think they paid a bit too much for him.

But you don't really get to pick from the free agent market like its a grocery store. The player has to agree. So at least they got a capable guy to carry some of the load. I'm concerned, but it's not a disaster.

I'm glad they're leaving room on the roster for Sandin and/or Liljegren. And Bunting / Kampf(sp?) are fine depth.

I'll give it a C, knowing the limitations.

This has been horrible. Why did I even give him a D? Because he did SOMETHING? Does he really believe these moves matter, or even cover what is going out the door? What is going on? The only solution here would have been to take a bold approach and trade a big name -- like Rielly --- and work with that for free agent signings. I am no fan of Rielly -- highly overrated --- but I am a fan of Hyman -- underrated. And by the way, why is it everyone who leaves is somehow expendable, when they are not? We have lost a lot of talent over the last two years -- for what? So Mitch can buy a 7 million dollar house instead of 4 million? And why do people hallucinate about Lillegren being ok? He looked horrible on defence this year, and Sandin is just too small to take the grind. No Saad, no Hamilton, hey, no problem, right?

The ones who had to leave so they could keep their core intact? That Coleman and goodrow?
Well then can't you say the same thing. Hyman wasn't part of the core, he was the Coleman of the group and had to go.

TB Stamkos Point Kuch Hedman
TOR Matthews Marner Nylander Tavares

Yeah. Literally that. It sucks, but it’s harder to find elite skill than a hyman type player.

Tired of getting hyped/deflated about a Leafs signing. Being a good/bad fit on papper is something i care not for.
The guys we get will prove their metal and worth (or lack thereof) on the ice. Only then can we truly evaluate them.

They should never do anything for fear of HFBoards not agreeing with them.

No doubt but based on what you have point in time, you have an idea what kind of players we brought in
Most of us watch hockey day in day out and I never heard of David Kampf and that dude we got out of Minny

Curtis Gabrial believe it or not may provide the most value. He's the only guy I think will leave up to his contract and signing. Dude loves the leafs and I am tired of Josh Anderson taking runs at everyone and Simmonds just watching from the bench

Dubas never really left his role as a Marlies GM. Most of these signing seems very Marlies focus

Yup. You almost need a ‘f you’ type of personality to run the team.

Same concept goes for the moron fans yelling ‘shoot’ when they’re on a powerplay.

That's problem with the GM thinking you are closer to being a contender than you actually are.

Pretty much everyone thought they had at least a run to the final four. There is no way they can sell in that position.
