"aaaaay"
On the other hand, the guy he's eating with is top center Aleksander Barkov.
So Laine is a bad influence! #hottake

Nonsense. Loads of pro athletes eat fast food, some even as ritual.Fried food & mayonnaise. No pro athlete that wants to improve would be caught dead eating this meal.
At least he's got a glass of water in this picture. Far too many shots of him drinking cola.
#babysteps ?

I recall back in Hawerchuk's second season, Ferguson hired a nutrition specialist for the team because all the young players were eating so poorly (McDonald's seven days a week, etc.). Ferguson said it was to blame for a really bad stretch where the team was getting soundly outplayed each game.Nonsense. Loads of pro athletes eat fast food, some even as ritual.

Little known fact, coconut water can collect in your hands and solidify similar to concrete. Just ask Nate Thompson. While I've never lurked at the Langside or Marion McDonalds on the lookout for players on their way to & from MTS Centre make their way thru the drive thru for their fast food fix, in todays day & age I say far from "loads" of NHL players have fast food included in the diet. NHL players are some of the best conditioned athletes on the planet.
I did live next door & shared a garage with a girl who married one of the Moose. Players were frequently over & all had impeccable diets & these were the young ones. They certainly drank tho!
A totally different era. Hawerchuk smoked between periods. Many of today's players won't even touch Gatorade due to its sugar content, opting for Coconut water.

Too soon?
I’m not suggesting athletes have poor diets, just saying they indulge. Justin Verlander was well known for eating Taco Bell before every start and Michael Phelps was a frequent visitor to McDonalds…..perhaps unsurprisingly .While I've never lurked at the Langside or Marion McDonalds on the lookout for players on their way to & from MTS Centre make their way thru the drive thru for their fast food fix, in todays day & age I say far from "loads" of NHL players have fast food included in the diet. Apparently Ovechkin drinks coke on the bench & does so from an unmarked bottle after the NHL told him to stop drinking directly from the can.
While I'm sure there are those that do have poor diets, in todays NHL they are the exception not the norm.
This is an old pic.Pretty sure Laine busted his ass after this meal.
And in that era half of them would follow up that meal with a dart. It’s hard to compare eras. Mike Keenan was a hard ass because he removed the ashtrays from the Blackhawks locker room in the late 80s and made them smoke in the hallway. Such a tyrant!I recall back in Hawerchuk's second season, Ferguson hired a nutrition specialist for the team because all the young players were eating so poorly (McDonald's seven days a week, etc.). Yep. Pizza is a staple in locker rooms after the game.
Just wow.Yes, how soon we forget...

Like a calf noming down on some fresh grass...but with much less grace or ability to eat with his mouth closed.
If anyone has the chance to listen to his interview with 32 thoughts, worth the listen. It made me a fan of his; love his attitude and approach. Seems like a GREAT kid
Tell that to Ronaldo, I am 99% sure he isn’tListen to Chiclets. They talk about constantly getting drunk and coming home at 2 a.m with Mcdonalds.
Pro athletes eat junk food too. They're still people, not robots
Ohio would be culture shock for many urban Canadian types.Tell that to Ronaldo, I am 99% sure he isn’t
human.
Also, don’t know if this is true, but heard from several Cbus fans, that Dub didn’t
like the political views in Ohio, and from a few in the locker room, and this was also a reason he wanted out.
Columbus would be the 4th largest city in Canada. I have been there on business quite a few times. Seemed pretty urban to me but I am from Winnipeg.Ohio would be culture shock for many urban Canadian types.
Then things have changed. I've spent some time there and found Columbus to be very quiet. Especially at night. But mostly I'm referring to the political differences.Columbus would be the 4th largest city in Canada. I have been there on business quite a few times.
