I think the Jets should seriously consider moving him to Montreal. Kotkaniemi + could be a better fit .

I think that would be terrible. I'd rather keep the 23 year old 60+ point physical two-way center. I'm willing to give the guy a Mulligan for a pandemic shortened and injury riddled season, after moving cross country to a new organization.

I'm fully giving him a do over. He wanted to come to a hockey market and likely feels like he thrives on the crowd. Empty arenas are the opposite of what he wanted when he wanted out of Columbus. He's a proven 1C, nevermind 2C. The point production and cardio didn't seem to be there for him and despite the fact he didn't make excuses with injuries at the year end presser I do believe that he had hurts he was playing through that if he wants to admit it or not, did impact his performance. I expect big things this year. Would not trade unless we were getting Eichel or something like that.

Someone suggest Kotka +. :shakehead That would be so terrible.

It may be that PoMo needs to tweak the system for his line as a lot of his highlights are breakaway goals and our Cs don't ever have that opportunity. Pumped we have him. I hope he goes point per game this year.

If he could play up to his line 1B Center status then that would be great. Still a big fan, loving how the roster is taking place so far. Let’s just get Pionk signed long term and Copp on a bridge and call it a day!

From a Sportsnet article before the upcoming 31 thoughts podcast where PLD is interviewed:

“Teammate Mark Scheifele ran into Dubois’s father at a golf course this summer, and Eric Dubois said his son has never skated so much in one off-season.
He’s ready to turn the page and still believes keeping quiet was the more mature route.“

For those worried about Dubois, how'd the guy we trade for him do after the trade? Takes time to gel sometimes. I doubt anybody here thinks that Laine won't improve from last season.

Need to get Texier over here for the bottom 6. Seems to be Dubois' bff on IG and Columbus is a dogfire rn anyways.

I mean look what happens to Laine on the other end

Laine regressing has a lot more to do with him acclimating to a new city and being traded. He was sheltered on the second line and the Jets also have multiple offensively talented forwards that other teams had to worry about. Being moved to the first line with mediocre line mates, facing the best defender’s on the opposing team and being the only skater that needed to be shut down exacerbated Laine’s circumstances . I predict that Laine will have a mediocre season because those 3 conditions will still exist next year. PLD will greatly benefit from being on the second line and playing with talented players. He should have a bounce back or an outstanding season ahead of him.

Is it too early to get a "Bold Predictions" thread going on the Jets main page?

That would be news if it was Patrick Laine. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
perhaps. although from what i've gathered from the Finnish folks on this forum Laine was putting in work, but seems like not the correct style of training/specialization? Not sure..... PLD thread though:deadhorse

that article is a bunch of fluff. how often do NHLers publicize why they want out? him dogging it on the ice for the CBJs & his teammates spoke volumes already. him putting in work in the off-season.... i mean i sure as hell hope so? he's a 23 YO old pro hockey player being paid 6.65M this season, and on top of that is due for a new contract. im sure he will play at his absolute best for the $$$.
