Kupari was a first round pick in 2018, the year we dealt ours to St Louis for Statsny

So now we have a guy who went 1st round that year, its almost like we picked him ourselves lol

Doesn't look like he's much of a point producer at any level, but he's big and can skate. I'm thinking he'll slot in nicely at 4RW

I can see Chevy maybe asking for Vilardi and Iafallo. And then adding Kupari as a bargaining chip that he was willing to let go of.
But to dare ask for all three PLUS a second round draft pick… and get all of it?! Even after all the delays he didn’t flinch.
That man has balls of steel!

Led LA in hits last season too. We can definitely use more of that!

It looks like they weren't that interested in of the depth that may have been added. They are likely pretty confident they will be able to fill out their roster with UFAs looking for work.
LA has $4.5 mill in cap room with a 16 player roster right now. Need to make another move to fill out their roster.

I think it's fair to say that there must have been another team or two involved who drove up the price.
That seems likely based on the return.

I was thinking more of the depth guys that float around for close to league minimum. Though it does seem likely they make more moves.

this trade has potential to propel us team way ahead of where we got w/ dubois imo.

a lot hinges on vilardi of course, however there are some v promising things to his season last year. Defensively, scoring stats... all appear to be pretty good.

it is his 1st real good one, and obviously injuries play a part through his career. im a bit hesitant to say whether the deal is v good or bad until they play, but honestly with PLD we didn't go anywhere so at the v minimum we didn't get worse.

I don't get people who say 8.5x8 is an overpay contract-wise for Dubois.

The trade is what it is, but that's a solid contract. This isn't 2015 - salaries have skyrocketed, and people seem to be under the impression that you can get a top-six centre from ages 25-33 for 5 million nowadays.
