GDT: PLAYOFFS: Shout at the Devils

I think the third best player was Markstrom. Andersen was great, but I thought Markstrom had to do a little bit more, even if he let in one more goal.
Definitely not the 3rd best player, but maybe one can excuse Markstrom from being shell-shocked due to their issues at team defense. I don't know that I've ever seen a goaltender do the "panicked look behind" as often as Markstrom...he just doesn't have a good feel for the puck so far in this series. Last night in particular he was really shook, and allowed the puck behind him twice -- his defensemen saved his bacon both times.

Other tidbits:
  • If folks say the NJD goal in Game 1 was "soft" for Anderson, Martinook's SHG in Game 2 was the exact same shot.
  • As bad as Anderson is at handling the puck, he's better than Markstrom.
  • His repeated attempts at slashing (Svechnikov and Jarvis) show that he's not focused on his job.

We are all homers to a certain degree.. heck we are all reading and posting on an Internet forum about our team!

But even with our own homerism clouding our perspective, it is so blatantly obvious how the bias is there for certain media outlets related to this team and how they will jump allll over one thing we do without any hint or mention or ever showing a previous incident that led to that linked event. Not trying to excuse any particular behavior from our team, but putting things in context and showing the whole sequence of events should be the bare minimum of responsibility by these parties and it clearly is not going to happen with them…

Ah, ignore the outside noise.

Better yet, each time you see a bad take, react with this image:

Noticing how on social media, there's more attention to Burns "headbutting" Mirer than there was Markstroms shenanigans or Hall getting hit from behind with the door open.

f*** the media.

I both love it and hate it when people are clinging to their illogical narratives. It makes them look even more stoopid. Be it media or other fans, all the whining tells me the Canes are doing the right things.

Meh it's a NY area team

Anything happens by them it's just how playoff hockey is, can't police it all, just get tougher skin.

Anything happens to them it's a complete injustice of the game and a scandal that needa someone to answer for!
