Definitely not the 3rd best player, but maybe one can excuse Markstrom from being shell-shocked due to their issues at team defense. I don't know that I've ever seen a goaltender do the "panicked look behind" as often as Markstrom...he just doesn't have a good feel for the puck so far in this series. Last night in particular he was really shook, and allowed the puck behind him twice -- his defensemen saved his bacon both times.I think the third best player was Markstrom. Andersen was great, but I thought Markstrom had to do a little bit more, even if he let in one more goal.
Other tidbits:
- If folks say the NJD goal in Game 1 was "soft" for Anderson, Martinook's SHG in Game 2 was the exact same shot.
- As bad as Anderson is at handling the puck, he's better than Markstrom.
- His repeated attempts at slashing (Svechnikov and Jarvis) show that he's not focused on his job.
