Id hope the Caps after being embarrassed would love to crush the Jackets playoff hopes

But im not sure, CLB has this team of destiny look.

My bigger fear is MTL is playing not to lose and being coached to not lose while CLB is playing to win.

In some ways, it is a lot less pressure to play from the "chasing" spot... Nothing to lose because even if they win out they might not make it.

Habs need to step up and sceal the deal on their own... But if Greaves' pixie dust wears off, I won't complain lol

I would rather be 5pts up with 2 games to go , than 5 pts back with 3 games to go .

I've never seen so much confusion about how the magic number works missing the post season three seasons running does some funny shit to people.
I'm optimistic that the caps will win today simply because the way they lost. Not only because of the 7-0 scoreline, but remember how fantilli laid out Leonard and then scored on the same shift?

They got punched in the mouth last night and I think assuming that they ice a more compeitive roster, they will have enough compeitive juices awaken to get the job done today.
I'm going to tune in to a rival's game for the first time in this push for a WC position.
It will be very easy to tell from the outset if Washington is serious.

Hopefully the caps show some pride. Got embarrassed on the scoreboard and got lit up on the ice (Leonard getting destroyed)

A Caps win here would be massive. It would releave so much pressure on the Habs right now and they could go into the game tomorow and just enjoy themselves with the new coming of a rookie.

I'm sure they are more exhausted mentally than physically at this point
While I agree with you, this is the exact type of game they all said they wanted to be in at this point in the season, when they were interviewed before the season started. They all wanted meaningful games in the second half again. None more meaningful than these. Time for them to show up and put on a dominated performance against a shit team.
No excuses for how bad they’ve been lately (win streak included)

If CBJ lose, it would make strategic sense to rest some of the core players over the next two games, or at minimum, manage their ice time more conservatively. Preserving their energy for the stretch run could provide a meaningful edge in performance and recovery.

Dobes should continue to get the starts—there’s value in giving him a longer look, especially in lower-pressure scenarios. Additionally, elevating the Newhook line to top-line duties would serve two purposes: testing their ceiling in a more prominent role, and distributing workload more evenly across the lineup.

The team could benefit significantly from a reset period. Managing fatigue now could translate into sharper execution and better consistency when it matters most.
