Don't want to sound cocky, and of course we should look at finishing it off tomorrow, but Wings need to go 0.500 hockey and hope we don't get a single point to pass us. It would take an even bigger miracle of falling out of this spot than the Habs getting to this stage after being bottom 5 for most of the season.

Yeah, it seems improbable even if they lose tomorrow, but I still want us to put all of them out of their misery ASAP. Clinching by this weekend would allow us to rest a lot of guys.

Every time you think he's going to break out, he shits to bed. I remember when we were crying because we went in that "pointless" play in series during Covid which ruined our chances for a Laf lottery and we had to settle on Guhle.

If NYR want to ship him to us cheap he's worth the risk. He's talented , the Rangers just suck.

I wonder if he'd actually he able to develop into a good 2nd liner playing with Demidov. The Rangers would either have to basically give him away for pennies on the dollar or retain 25% of his cap

I would offer up Laine for Lafreniere in the off-season

I’m confident hockey whisperer will bring out the best in young Lafreniere - didn’t Alexis live in MSLs home in CT & commute his rookie season?

Rangers play such a boring brand of hockey. No creativity, no use of a forward up at the blue line to create space, no movement, no controlled zone entries, literally the opposite of teams like St Louis, Montreal or TB. It's a chore to watch through.

Laviolette has a reputation of being caustic, thus having a short shelf life - looks like Drury’s poor management of Trouba situation + Laviolette have pissed the players off

It'd probably have to be something like Laine, Roy and a 2nd for Laf. Just because of the pedigree and organizations overvaluing their players

I’d take him and I’d be willing to give up our latest first this year and a B prospect. Rangers are a mess, the guy will never live up to his first overall status but he’ll get anywhere between 55-65 points a year and he plays a gritty power game, he’d be a solid fit for us.

That used to be us for over a decade. Nice to see us be on the other side finally

That just seems strange to me because when I think of Laviolette coached teams of the past, I think of teams that play the opposite style of hockey that you described. Is it a case of a dinosaur coach not being able to adapt to the league changing?
