The Habs next 2 games are a home and home with the Panthers. They are battling for 1st place of the Atlantic division so they have something to play for and will be a very tough 2 games

While I understand this is a playoff positivity thread, I am obviously a little dismayed right now. I’m sorta looking at this road trip as a likely turning point in this final stretch.

I expected at least two losses between STL, FLA and CAR. I get we haven’t played Florida yet.

NYI and PHI were blown opportunities. NYI is like bottom of the league in special teams so of course they shut our PP down and score a PP goal on us. Philly scores their first PP goal of the month against us.

Despite peppering Sorokin with shots, i didn’t find we really took it to them. There was no intensity in Philly and while Carolina is a better team, showing up that flat is inexcusable.

We still got tough matches coming up so whatever next level or gear they have, they need to turn it on.

The last few games have exposed our weaknesses ; back up goaltending has been a problem aside from Dobes’ first 5 games, Savard’s legs are gone…he can’t keep up-overplaying Matheson is a big no-no, he can’t handle forechecking and goes back to being a turnover machine-our 4th line has become irrelevant, and our 2nd line doesn’t contribute on a regular basis.
But !!!!…..we are a couple of days from April and we are still playing significant hockey games ; how many of us would have predicted that ?
To my absolute astonishment, Dvorak\Gallagher and Anderson have stepped up significantly this season and our kids ( remember that we have the 3rd youngest team in the league) have carried the team to this point in the season.
Playoffs or not, the team has grown tenfold.
So let’s enjoy this sprint to the end of the season, and keep in mind that most, if not all of our weaknesses should be addressed by management during the summer.

Rangers gave up 2 goals in final 6 minutes & end up losing in OT to Ducks. That's too funny.

Today's games:

2 PM: Islanders @ TBL - Tampa Bay has won last 2 games, but are only 5-4-1 in last 10. Still they have a crazy good home record & a crazy good offense.

An Isles win puts them in WC2 by themselves - at least until the later games are completed.

7 PM: Blue Jackets @ Senators - This is the 1st of 3 games that the Jackets & Sens play to close out the season. The two teams have a home & home series April 6th & 8th. Sens are 7-3-0 in last 10 & have a very good home record.

If Columbus loses this game, Montreal will jump Columbus due to one more RW. However, I can see Columbus getting at least a point. They're healthy and have been able to do that in 3 of their last 4 games. If CBJ win in regulation, they move 2 pts up on Montreal with same gp & same RW.

10:30: Rangers @ Sharks - It should be an easy win for New York and keep them at least tied with CBJ for WC2. But, SJS are a young, talented hard working club who have won their last 2 home games. It's a back-to-back for NYR, but not for Sharks.

Montreal will be back to 2 games in hand on NYR after tonight. NYI & CBJ will be tied in GP with Montreal.

85 pts or so is still a big step from last year. Nobody would have have thought they would be that high in the "mix" with that record.
They have not reached 85 points yet. The way they are playing right now it could very well end below 80. My Target for them at the beginning of the year was 82 but Most importantly I wanted to see them playing the right way : relentless Forechecking, puck possession, higher number of shots, defensive system…while to me this season has not been convincing in all those perspectives.

What happened in 2019? All I can be certain of is that that team was probably garbage on paper like every single habs team I've ever seen in my life
Kotkaniemi has a really good rookie season, but was benched in the last third for Nate Thompson.

The Danault-Tatar-Gallagher line was extremely effective.

Max Domi and Jonathan Drouin had hot streaks together.

Petry was having one of his best years.

Poehling had a hat trick.

I have THE SOLUTION to at least make things interesting again.

Bench Armia, he can't even hold his stick it's completely ridiculous to have him in the line-up.

Send Roy back down.

Call back Florian.

Put Heineman on the 2nd, Florian AND Arber on the 4th.

Get 2 Xhekajs in the line-up. Enjoy.

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Heineman - Newhook - Laine
Anderson - D-Vo - Gallagher
Xhekaj - Evans - Xhekaj

Guhle-Carrier
Hutson-Struble
Matheson-Savard

That would be SO MUCH FUN.
