Will the Habs make the playoffs?

Which is I suppose why you felt the need to talk about how unlikely the playoffs are.

I should emphasize the word "playoffs". It's about making the playoffs rather than being in the mix as you were talking about.

Certainly hope I'm wrong, but if this is meant to be an echo chamber, then so be it.

And I would emphasize the word Positivity. We've had mixed results this season but it has without question been a positive season relative to past years. This idea that it's playoffs or bust is wrong, but feel free to post that nonsense in the tank thread.

No, I'm not saying it's a playoffs or bust. I'm just mentioning that the thread itself is for playoff context.

I am not measuring this season on whether they make the playoffs. I didn't expect that when the season began and I dont expect it now.

It's just as valid for the focus of the thread to be on positivity.

Do you have a link? Considering how brutal our schedule has been that would make sense.

It’d be nice to finish strong.

Will try to find......

Are you referring to strength of schedule?

The two teams holding wildcards, DET and CBJ have among the hardest schedules remaining… good for us.

Other teams like NYR, PHI and PIT have tough schedules also. Boston is on the easier side, but harder than us. Ottawa has it the easiest, and Brady is back.

Cool. Should be an interesting finish.

I'm a Dach suporter and want to see him succeed.

But, seeing so many negative comments after he just got injured did make me think: for at least the remainder of this year, will we be better with Beck as the center of the 2nd/4th llne than we were with Dach?

Thx........I knew I had seen something written on this..............what does it mean, with all the parity in the league, well remains to be seen.

The other issue now, is does he acquire a forward to replace Dach?? I would think MSL and the CAptain would love to see another player come in to help.........stay tuned.

Agreed! Personally I would rather they send him down right now and let him develop.
You know I'm not too stressed about that. Both he and Beck are playing a part for now and even just being around and practicing with the Big Club has it's advantages. These are both guys you can count on to play hard when they do ultimately return to Laval.

Time to dig deep, work hard and keep the win streak going, they want to get into the playoffs. We could even unlock Demidov if we make it.

As long as they sell Evans and Armia, I don't mind remaining in the mix or whatever. In fact, it's probably good for an experience perspective. My big concern isn't the draft position (top5 versus top10 or top15). The draft is wide open wherever we will likely draft, anyway... I just want more late 1st and 2nds (or that tier of prospect) to make up for the ones wasted on Dach and Newhook. We need assets to develop or trade for the players that Dach and Newhook were meant to be.

Loving where this team is heading. With a healthy Laine from the beginning I think we are already a playoff team. He’s just starting to get in game shape now. If we had that 20 games sooner I think there is 3-4 extra wins there.

However, all teams go through injuries so it’s not a good enough excuse, but I do like where the team is trending. I think I’d move on from Kirby Dach though, he’s not ever going to be a 2C, he could maybe be a fringe top 6 winger, but I look to upgrade if possible. With Demidov and possibly Reinbacher in the mix next year along with continuous improvement from Hutson, Heineman, Beck, Kapanen, Struble, Laine and even Dobes, I think this team will be in a playoff spot. That 2C spot needs to be filled though, we’re going to kill Nick

Forwards depth is still a weakness imo, you see it when a guy like Heineman goes down, we really struggled to replace him. I think trading Evans and Armia is a mistake. You need to be very careful not to end up squandering assets for little returns. We are an injury or two away from being out of contention and with those guys gone the depth is even worse. Evans ask is not unreasonable at all. The duration of the contract is unlikely to haunt you and 4m is his worth. Our centre depth is very weak, I’d keep him and wouldn’t think twice about it.

Continuous improvement is the goal here. Not one step forwards, two steps back. That’s how teams like the Sabres are built. We need to avoid that. We are a better team with Evans than without, this idea that we have multiple options to replace him is pure fantasy from our Xbox GMs. We don’t.

It's pretty crazy how close together all the teams are in the race for that second wildcard spot. You never know. But whatever happens this season is a step up.
