Desired results for today:
- PHI reg. loss vs. TOR: PHI reg. loss = MTL remain 1 point ahead of PHI with 1 game in hand.
- PIT reg. los vs. CAR: PIT reg. loss = MTL remains 1 point behind with 2 games in hand.
- NYI reg. loss vs. BOS: NYI reg. loss = MTL remains 4 pts ahead with 1 game in hand.
- NYR reg. loss vs. CHI: NYR reg. loss = MTL remains 4 pts ahead.
- PHI reg. loss vs. TOR: PHI reg. loss = MTL remain 1 point ahead of PHI with 1 game in hand.
- PIT reg. los vs. CAR: PIT reg. loss = MTL remains 1 point behind with 2 games in hand.

I’m wondering if we don’t prefer Boston to lose? Either way we want a reg. loss.
Boston L is better for our playoffs hope! A lot more paths open if the 2 WC spot are reachable.

I think I would rather BOS be the ones to lose in regulation. They are 5 points up, but we have 2 games in hand. It gets more interesting if they lose and we have 3 games in hand. I'd rather be chasing two teams than just one.

Nothing wrong with Boston losing. However, I'd rather keep the teams behind the Habs from catching up. After we beat Detroit twice and we had a few wins after that, we moved a few points ahead of them, creating a mini cushion. Red Wings got a few wins of their own recently and now they're a point behind the Habs. Same amout of games played. Same amount of RWs.
So my view of it is while Habs are chasing a WC spot, I'd rather ensure the teams behind stay behind.
Yes, if BOS loses in regulation, MTL is 5 pts behind them with 3 games in hand. But if NYI win, they're 2 pts behind with MTL having a game in hand. In such a scenario, chances are more likely NYI pass MTL than MTL catching up to BOS.
If MTL get 2-3 pts behind BOS, then I'll be looking for BOS losses.
The Rags are up early and often which is the way to handle Chicago. 5-1 
Yeah and Boston can go bleep themselves pretenders with a worse goal diff than we have.
Them having experience and knowing how to put away winnable games sucks for us.
I'm really not concerned about getting too far ahead of anyone at this point.

Can't really go wrong with either the NYI or BOS losing so long as it's regulation. I'm leaning BOS losing because A) F the Bruins that's why, and B)Teams can only catch us if we stop winning, and if we stop winning the point it's irrelvant so the more teams in the mix and the more spots being fought over helps our chances more

-they currently have a -21 goal differential
-they have lost 3 in a row
-they are currently down 4-2 in the 3rd period against NYI
This looks like a team that is in danger of falling into that large pack of teams currently competing for wc2.

So this night finishes with the Habs in the same rank as yesterday standings wise.
But the playoff bar increased by 1 point. So Habs sit 2 points out with 2 games in hand.

Yeah, Pittsburgh gets one point moving them into WC2 with 41 pts. Ottawa is 1 pt back with 3 games in hand, while Montreal is 2 pts back with 2 games in hand.
Both Montreal & Ottawa hold the 1st tie breaker over Pittsburgh.
TB lost again. They've lost 4 consecutive games.
Philadelphia got a point against Toronto, but at least not 2.

The team that’s supposed to be in the first wildcard spot is Boston but TB can’t stop losing.
Am I the only one not following the other teams yet? The Habs still have 43 games to play this season. Still over half to go.
Just worry about winning games yourself and developing the young players and prospects.

This week I started on non Hab game days only, I’ll wait a while before doing it on game days. And you’re right it doesn’t matter what the other teams do, as long as we win most games. We’re 7-3-0 in our last 10 which is better than Boston, TB, Pitt and all Eastern non-playoff teams.

It's just fun for now. I don't expect playoffs so I'm just enjoying the ride while the games are still meaningful... and hoping that I'm wrong at the same time.
