It was always going to be an uphill battle.

All these teams that are fighting for the playoffs aside from Columbus and Montreal EXPECT to make it in. Ottawa has been trying to get over that elusive hump for years and Detroit as well for at least a couple years now. NYR has had a terrible year and never expected to be fighting for their playoff lives at this point.

Montreal is on their own path, where playoffs would be a bonus, but they haven't let the standings cloud their overall vision.

Wish Hughes would had added a player we need. Been shot in arm to the guys. Make playoffs or not will probably come down to a point or two. He'd be the difference.

Carlo been good fit. They hard to play against in playoffs. Big veteran #4 right D. Signed long term reasonable, get a couple of playoff runs out of him flip him for what we gave up. When the Reinbacher and Mailloux are fully mature. It's no lose situation. Give up Calgary pick. We not getting a better player around 18. It's no brainer. We never lose our money on him.
 
Habs will be WC2 tonight if:
1. regulation win Calgary, and
2. Ottawa vs NYR finish in regulation.

I think from a perspective of competing and also maximizing our opportunities to assess players and who might not stick around I would do the following moves:

Send Beck down
Call-up Roy (who would have gotten the call instead of Beck first time around if he wasn't hurt apparently) or Farrell
Put Newhook at C

That way you can see how Newhook does at C as Dvo's potential replacement and you can also evaluate Roy or Farrell before potentially dealing them this summer for a 2C. Roy IIRC had chemistry with Newhook.

NJD are toast.. NYR will get a metro division spot, which opens up the 2nd wildcard that Habs are well positioned for

Does anyone have an answer to why HFBoards has become un-useable?
I can only log in to the home page and from there see my alerts.
If I change page or move to a different thread or try to log in directly I get asked to log in????

Trying to log in again brings up that oops something went wrong banner and anyone who has seen that message knows going back and refreshing like they suggest is useless. For some reason I can only reply or post in this thread. Kindly respond to this post if you have an answer.

Yep. Hutson, Guhle, Heineman all showed up or made great strides. Slaf’s year has been disappointing but he’s bouncing back with a good second half. Caufield’s regained his form. 40 would be nice. Evans had a great year. Happy with the play of the bottom six and Carrière was a great addition. Laine is finding his game and has improved lately. Suzuki looks like he’s about to go on an extended tear. Xehjac has been good.

Newhook’s been disappointing. Dach’s story is tragic. Matheson is on his way out at some point.

Overall a good year. We have a couple of holes but they can be fixed.

disagree about Caufield, he hasn't "regained his form", he's taken it to a whole new level altogether. team MVP as far as I'm concerned.

also 40 would be better than "nice" imo. only 17 players scored 40 last year, that'd be damn impressive

I use Brave browser on mobile and I don't have any issues plus there aren't ads.

Generally when you get logged out when you try to navigate around a site it's cookies issue, so flush those and try again (or try in incognito/private browser mode since it give you an environment without permanent cookies.)

PC always used firefox it started bugging out yesterday I'm on brave right now but the results are exactly the same.
To give an idea on how messed up it is when you replied the alert told me you would be replying in 24 minutes in the future. not that you replied in the past. LMFAO

No add blockers are running on either browser.

I've tried a private browser and was resorting to that quite often since the change over to Xenforo but that is cooked as well.
