GDT: PLAYOFFS: Canes game in Jersey? What exit?

I mean I wouldn't say any of Ghost, Orlov and Walker had a particularly good game tonight. Ghost was dreadful, Orlov was rough and Walker was a guy noticably fighting it.

We absolutely have to play Nikishin the next game. Maybe slot in Morrow as well. NJ is going to be feeling it playing 5D that long tonight, if we take it to them early on Sunday that game could get ugly

Orlov was fine. He was easily the most physical player on the ice for the Canes which you bitch about their lack thereof incessantly. He saved the game twice on the PK giving up his body in OT. He was probably the 2nd best defenseman tonight.

Walker made that bad play on the 1st goal but otherwise was completely fine. He and Ghost were getting caved in by the Devils top line because that’s what happens when the 3rd D pair gets stuck out there with the opponents best.

They generated ZERO offense 5 on 5. That was the biggest issue tonight.

That is an absolutely crazy bit of trivia. 18 seasons in the NHL and one game played in the month of May.

Interesting fact I heard on nhl radio today. They stared that in order to win the cup the ultimate champion had one series go only 4 or 5 games. Important for rest. This series is almost already 4 games.

They weren’t going to sweep Jersey. I’d rather they not lose in 4OT and have fresher legs for game 4. There was no way they could match Jerseys desperation given a loss tonight was pretty much a nail in the coffin for them statistically.

This series is giving me covid series vs nashville vibes for some reason. As long as the outcome is the same, ok, but that may be (was, imo) the most frustrating series the canes have ever won.

Well it depends. This is a series against a team missing a lot of resources on o and d so yes you should sweep them. Now play next round and beyond more difficult.

Btw: Coach was pretty pissed off tonight knowing that the team gave this one away.

Why does this team always go away from their dump and chase, aggressive forecheck in OT during the playoffs. They demonstrably play timid and “not to lose”. It’s been a recipe for disaster. the last playoff OT win I remember is Stastny getting a weird bounce off an Islander’s skate. NJ was clearly in desperation mode but you have a chance to go up 3-0, if you lose off a rush, so be it.

The Devils D-core looked very fatigued at the end. I am not sure if Canes run Freddy again, game 3 was always gonna be the biggest push from the Devils. I expect Canes to be able to generate more 5 on 5 tomorrow

Everytime I see these charts, Burns is always at the bottom. Yet, he keeps getting 1st pairing minutes.
