Playoff race/Scoreboard watching thread

they absolute can, they’ve been the better team in the second
All I'm seeing is Montreal pressuring and dominating in the offensive zone in the last minutes. Looks pretty convincing, I think they put it away in the third now that they can play more relaxed again.

Edit: And now it's 3-1. Yeah it's done.

This is obviously a corny ass way for it to end again an AHL squad, but ultimately it's on us. How many games did we let get away this year? Ot losses, streaks where they couldn't score, that goddamn Wings game where the guy scored out of the box with a minute left? That's why the Jackets miss the playoffs.

We'll look back on this year as a massive success against expectations. But damn.

Just play anybody but Elvis and we win a couple more games. He is a total boat anchor.

Team took a step forward this year, but couldn't quite get the one more step needed.

Outdoor game was a success, Waddell and Evason should have a good idea on how to proceed for next year, just a matter of lining things up.

A lot of the young guys are pretty good. If there is one who I really want to take a step forward it is Voronkov, I feel like if he can just put in the effort he can become an absolute menace.

Considering what happened, pretty incredible really. I always want to win a Cup of course, but I definitely want to win one while Monahan is here. I think we can do that.

The home OT loss to the Habs right before Thanksgiving (where KJ may or may not have been tripped but it wasn’t called) is the one that really sticks out to me.

The best thing I read today on a Carolina board was the ultimate dagger to stick in Montreal’s heart is let them get a two goal lead going into the third and then the hockey gods bless Kotkaniemi and he gets a natural hat trick in the third for the Carolina victory. Well, Carolina is down two goals going into the third. Hockey gods and Kotkaniemi, it is your time to shine.

They did 1000% better than I expected them to do this season. It's hard to complain when I realize that.

Honestly I am just happy that they won the stadium game. That was a once in a lifetime thing and it would really suck if the Wings won that.

Now the question is do they continue moving up or do they regress next season?

Bear with me here
I remember the Cavs in 1975 or 76 missing the playoffs by one game, losing to the Kings in the final seconds of the final game
As a Cavs fan it hurt cause they sucked since their inception but they were a young team
They used that loss to begin a playoff run the next year that was labeled the Miracle of Richfield
The point is that that young team that missed the playoffs made huge strides that season and was the springboard of many future successful seasons
I see the same thing taking place with the Jackets
You have to crawl before you walk, and walk before you run
Better days and seasons are coming and I’m excited to see what GMDW does now

Every team who barely misses can do this, but a few things jump immediately to mind that I’ve been thinking about the last few days.

1. Mateychuk blowing the game in the dying seconds against the rangers. Getting a point there (minimum) could have been huge.

2. Provorov (?) losing his man at the end of a late PP against Detroit, leading to a breakaway goal against with seconds to go. Another point there lost (minimum).

3. Against Montreal in OT where a blatant hook goes uncalled and they win it on the ensuing breakaway. A point there lost.

4. Montreal last second tying the Panthers and then winning in OT. If Florida closes that out, maybe things are different.

We had a similar situation in the 2013 lockout season and helped use it to propel us to the playoffs in 2013-14 (although we then proceeded to take a few more steps back before our best seasons in franchise history in the late 2010s).

There are a lot of good pieces in place, and a lot of cap space. We’ll see what happens.

Carolina not even hiding it anymore

Good season guys, I'm curious to see what direction goes this offseason

Maybe because I was at the game it sticks out but loss in Vancouver. Mind you only a 2-0 lead with lots of time left but I remember Elvis coming out of the net when the defenseman could have gotten it and it resulted in a goal(tying?)

God, If I'm thinking of the same game all 3 guys sold out and lost.

We had some real OT brain farts. Obviously Evason has been amazing but I haven't always agreed with his OT lineups.

Sorry Jackets fans were as disappointed as you are.

If it makes you feel better, our team is going to be joining yours on the golf course pretty soon.
