Playoff race/Scoreboard watching thread

One last night of no CBJ hockey and only one WC race game to watch/follow. Let's hope we can go for one for one.

Flyers @ Devils: Go Devils in regulation...Flyers on a bit of a roll right now going 6-2-1 in last nine games.
Pens @ Utah HC: GoUtah...not because I am worried the Pens are in the playoff race but just because it's the Pens

BTW, got my tix to the Sabres game in Buffalo. How many times do you hear someone say they are excited to go to Buffalo :) Our free time will include a run up to Niagara-on-the-Lake and visiting one of my wife's cousins. And I must be getting a Paula's Donut on the way out of town.

I went to a Sharks game there about 10 years ago, was a great time. Super people

This next stretch before Four Nations determines everything. Four straight road games (three of them out west and two of those against not just playoff contenders but true Cup contenders) and then two home games against bubble teams. Twelve points up for grabs. If they get fewer than eight points, I think they're probably out of it. The margins are too thin in the standings and they only have games in hand on Boston (2) and Philly (1) (and two games in hand on a fading NJ if you want to talk about M3, I guess).

By pts % (not pure pts) right now, the East bubble is tight as hell:

NJ at .596 (M3) - included in the list just because A3 is
TBL at .561 (A3)
OTT at .560 (WC1)
CBJ at .550 (WC2)
BOS at .538
DET at .530
MTL at .530
NYR at .520
NYI at .520
PHI at .510

And I just don't know if I see eight points happening. VGK, UTA, DAL, BUF, UTA at home, NYR at home. They'll probably surprise one of VGK or DAL and get stomped by the other, drop to Buffalo because of course they will, and split the Utah games, and then get Sherterkined again against the Rags. I expect maybe 5 points and a comfortable 12th in the conference after that. Which hopefully means au revoir to Provorov at the deadline and not buying anything.

8 points is what I'm hoping for out of next 6 games, and more than that is gravy.

However, I think 6 points out of the possible 12 is fine heading into the break, and would keep them in the mix. Then come back from the break with at least 6 points in the next 4 games which includes the outdoor one.

Thing is, none of these games are against the direct competition except the Rangers, and by then it's probably too late.

End of the year is going to be very much in our hands, we play our wildcard opponents a lot through the rest of the year so a winning record against should land us in at least WC2.

Det: 2 games
NYR: 3 Games
OTT: 3 Games
TBL: 1 Game
NYI: 2 games
PHI: 1 Game

That's so cool how the schedule and standings shook out. Hoping by then these games will mathematically stay as exciting as they are now!

I saw the jackets play up in Buffalo right before Covid hit. I don’t recall ever seeing a tv in a restroom inside an arena before… but I’ll be damned if they didn’t have one random tv up in a corner. Jackets lost in OT. Hope you have better luck. 😂
