The guy lost to a zambonie driver, just as gutless as this core
Not a chance he gets another job in the NHL.Disagree. I think he gets another shot.
The difference in coaching attitudes
Maybe, but not in Toronto. Too much of a media spotlight.Disagree. I think he gets another shot.
just a whimpy approach. Everyone talks about game 7 but the team should have done everything to prevent it. Game 4 they laid in egg and handed that win. Team wasnt prepared - that falls on the coach and he deserves some blame there. Game 6 team should have closed it out as well. Even game 2 they stunk.Go back and watch his pregame Game 4 presser. He’s already satisfied with a split and its all gravy, get “greedy”. Overall, he was better this series, but he isn’t some great coach and we have to make some tweaks, to me he’s the obvious choice. Again, we don’t have a Bowman our hands here, the group doesn’t need his guidance to succeed and his voice isn’t going to resonate more next season.
I turf Keefe. He was clearly outcoached the first two playoffs, you could argue again here, so why exactly would he be irreplaceable?
Last season’s playoffs against the Habs, Keefe was sorely outcoached by Dominique Ducharme who’s a lousy coach himself,Small sample size, but so far this guy is easily the worst playoff coach I've ever seen for the Leafs.
He adjusts to nothing, fixes nothing. His team has got and held a lead only once in 6 games and if it wasn't for one of the most miraculous comebacks in history their record would be 1-5.
His presence actively hurt the team tonight by overusing Jumbo, something that was called out way before it actually cost us the GWG.
Wayne Simmonds’s two uncalled penalties cost us Game 2. He didn’t play thereafter.just a whimpy approach. Everyone talks about game 7 but the team should have done everything to prevent it. Game 4 they laid in egg and handed that win. Team wasnt prepared - that falls on the coach and he deserves some blame there. Game 6 team should have closed it out as well. Even game 2 they stunk.
Barry Trotz’s defense first style will ingratiate Matthews, Marner and Nylander.I agree...he would be who I would get if AM wasn't ready to be a UFA in 2yrs. He hated playing under Babs and likes the MVP type scoring he gets to do with Keefe. If he were locked up for 4yrs more...I would do the Trotz thing and hope we win a cup before he walks. Doing it with 2yrs left for AM is almost a guarantee he walks IMO.
Yes, Johnny G in Calgary has really suffered there under Sutter, especially 5 v 5.Barry Trotz’s defense first style will ingratiate Matthews, Marner and Nylander.
When you study all week for the exam yet blank on the first question.Tell me why Keefe is a great coach? Not serviceable or adequate, but exceptional?
You turf the coach because it's the easy move.
DeBoer is available.
Tampa was better at cheating than the Leafs.I've been critical of Keefe in the past, but I don't think this series loss is on his shoulders. He arguably got the most out of this roster that could be expected.
We were robbed by inconsistent officiating when it mattered most in my opinion.
Not sure about this.Tampa was better at cheating than the Leafs.
I need video replay to confirm Tampa got away with a call. They were very good at not being noticeable and when it was noticeable they picked their spots wisely. Read the game flow.
I needed video replay to confirm Leafs didn't get a penalty. They don't make it easy for themselves.
I'm not saying this is fair, it is very unfair when you have access to all the replays to confirm Leafs faced corruption with the calls. All I am saying is that when it comes to cheating IQ, Bolts are leagues ahead of the Leafs. Kampf and Kerfoots sticks shouldn't even be in that location. Kerfoot knows he lost the puck to Hedman, just back paddle and get back into defensive structure. Engages with bad form. Hedmans stick lift was legal it's not his fault Kerfoot is so weak. Holl's pick in game 7 was so bad. Even if legal his execution was horrible. The pick was complete he didn't need to actually bump into the player he could have quick pick then stepped aside. Tavares was already on verge cutting inside even without Holl's help he only needed small aid.
I put this in Keefe section because a coach that knows how to cheat in the playoffs is more beneficial. Just from what I seen, Tampa was more subtle and their style allows you to cheat more.
We need to cheat a little in the playoffs, all good playoff teams do. Can't escape it. Nhl playoffs still resorts to barbarian tactics at times you need a smart coach who can account for this.
Swap Cooper and Keefe and my theory is we don't hate the officiating as much. He's better captain for it.
Just theory, not saying it's true. Others observations may be different.
