Oh God, I think I had an aneurysm after reading that main board thread. Seems like everybody is picking us to lose this series.

#paperD #unsustainable

i sang the star spangled banner, while standing on a chair in a bar in saskatoon after john carlson won the 2010 wjc's. i am not intimidated by some scruffy manitobians :)

Glad to be here and the thanks is all mine to give tbh. Still can't believe you guys've welcomed me as well as you have :)

Believe you me, the game 1 gdt will be by far, the best one I've come up with. I like to think I've done some good ones in the past, but getting honored with making game 1 of another team's playoff gdt is not something I will take lightly. I already have a premise and hope y'all enjoy it as much as I will making it :)

Sigh, Thursday start aka Friday morning over here, 5 days to wait till playoffs start

I hope Thompson is ok. Would not be feeling confident if our bottom 6 centers are both rookies going into the playoffs.

Agreed. Just think if Thompson is out and something happens to Wagner. Who would be next up at center for us? Fleisch? Cogs? Kerdiles? Noesen? :help:

Also I love the ever moving goalposts on HF.

Last season when blowing teams out right left and center: "Yeah Anaheim are blowing teams out and all that, but when the games get tight in the playoffs they'll be outmatched as they can't play in tight games"

This season when Anaheim shows great ability to play in tight games and grind out results: "Yeah Anaheim are grinding out tight wins and all that, but they haven't been blowing teams out so they don't have the offensive ability to score in the playoffs"

Literally cannot win, ever.

Bring back Steckel! :sarcasm:

So we are the underdogs? Don't really understand the reasoning but I'm ok with it. Round one, engage!

Winnipeg is definitely not the opponent I wanted on the first round. This is going to be a very physical series and hopefully if the Ducks move on, they don't have too many injuries.

Winnipeg is a pretty good team for sure, only real weakness I see is their goaltending. Also I would give the edge to the Ducks comparing the centers but it doesn't mean that Jets centers are bad or anything. Jets defence has more star power for sure and I would give them the edge there. The Jets was one of the most penalised teams during the season but their PK was fine. If they keep taking so many penalties in the playoffs, the Ducks need to be better on the PP if they want to go forward.

I'm looking for Kesler's playoff mode. If both he and Getzlaf turn it on, that would be nice.

No, it's called a bad team. That is all.

Definitely surprised about the mainboard thread and the tendencies, but I probably shouldn't be. Pretty similar to last year, where the Stars were everyone's favourite underdog, a big fast tough team, while on the other hand we have a Boudreau team in the playoffs, whose success' sustainability has just been waiting to fall apart. And that was against a team from Texas...

Excitement is starting to creep in.

One thing to note, HF is very bipolar in regards to us, though. On the one hand, we are the underdog in that serious, going by the poll. But according to the contender-ranking poll, we're back right around where we make sense to be put. So, the series alone is probably just the result of a passionate Canadian fanbase and the Jets being a very respectable low-seed that has enough skills to make life tough for a higher seeded team. People don't really want to bet on the favourite in every matchup, and when they decide where to go with the underdog, I can see why they pick the Jets, at least. Out own skills are underrated in the thought process, though.

While I am not completely sold on the Ducks ability to get their act together, I find it hilarious that we are generally perceived as the underdog.

HF Boards are not the real world. I think that outside of this place, Ducks are the odds-on favorite. I am a big time Jet's fan, and hope for a series win, but I don't believe that the Ducks are an underdog for a second. Getzlaf and Perry are scary.

Jets have a much better blueline. Both teams goaltending is questionable. We have a massive edge up front.

Ducks in 6.

I hate that we're playing the Jets. I really like Winnipeg.

Seriously. Talk about cherry picking stats to support an argument lol. Also drives me crazy that they repeatedly mention our goalies as a liability but don't say the same thing about Winnipeg

But but Pavs was good down the stretch! Hutch was good in the beginning! They're clearly better!

I hate to link to any story even potentially written by Corsi Masisak, but I agree with the last part of the article. I hope Zupke wrote it.

DUCKS WILL WIN IF … They stick to their system and let the opposition adjust to them. This wasn't the case the past two playoffs. The Red Wings forced Boudreau into unnecessary changes in the 2013 first round, and the Dallas Stars' agitators got under Anaheim's skin in last season's first round series, which went six games.

It would help if Anaheim found a definitive lineup instead of the constant rotation and audition among its forwards. They might notice that the Kings and Chicago Blackhawks hardly change their lineup and primarily are concerned with their game, not the opposition's.

When it is fully engaged, Anaheim can create as good a forecheck as any team in the League, and its goaltending can mask a lot of deficiencies. If these things fall into place, there's no reason the Ducks won't prevail.

I'm ignoring the Canadian hockey media's take on this series.

I can't count on them to be impartial.

Well, nationalism rears its ugly head when it comes to hockey. They even put suicidal pressure on 16 year old kids to beat the Russians and Americans at the World Juniors.

Go Get 'Em Ducks! Rooting for you all the way to the cup!

How's that?
Trouba is still prospect, everytime he is on the ice, people looking at him what he might become, not what he is, and REALITY IS: Trouba has been mediocre all season long.

Enstrom, good D, and thats all. I dont know why are they praising their blueline, while during season they were talking how they would use Enstrom as bait for some top6 F. But know he is legit 1st pair guy, silly people those Jets fans.

I don't think they have a much better blueline at all. Top four, they have a bit of an edge, but our depth guys go a long way in making up for it. I think they're decently close.

How many times have you seen Enstrom or Trouba play this season?

I can't agree with that. Buff and Enstrom are better than anyone we have. Lindholm has a slight edge over Trouba but Myers is better than Wiz/Vatanen. Yes our 5 and 6 are better but that's not going to matter when their top guys 4 can play 24 minutes each per night and one of Enstrom/Buff/Trouba will be on the ice at all times.
